Disney unveiled the initial teaser for Avatar: Fire and Ash, with Oona Chaplin officially cast as Varang, the chief of the Ash Nation.

James Cameron is set to release a movie on December 19, 2025, featuring a fresh Na’vi tribe depicted as smoky and ambitious. In the film’s trailer, Varang brandishes fire and states, “The dominion of your goddess ends here,” while her troops destroy sections of Pandora’s forest.

At the 2024 D23 Expo, Cameron shared that Fire and Ash was originally intended for The Way of Water but later became a standalone film because the story grew too big. “It’s an exhilarating journey and visual spectacle, but it also carries heavy emotional weight,” the director said (as reported by Empire Magazine). Moreover, he suggested that the Ash People would be more aggressive than the Omaticaya and Metkayina tribes.

A flood of reactions poured in as Varang made their debut. One particularly popular post, viewed over 20,000 times, bore the title “VARANG PERFECTLY ENCAPSULATES EVERYTHING” and showcased several pictures of the character.

One user stated, “She is my Fire Queen,” tagging it with #Varang and #AvatarFireAndAsh. Another post mentioned, “Varang wears metal earrings. In the Na’vi culture, metal is forbidden. She strongly dislikes Eywa.” This post garnered 33,000 views.
