Malcolm Jamal-Warner’s Cosby Show co-star breaks silence on actor’s shock drowning death
His fellow actor paid tribute to the late Malcolm Jamal-Warner following his heartbreaking drowning at age 54.
On July 20th, Sunday, Warner tragically drowned at a Costa Rican beach, with no lifeguards around. Another individual, who was also part of the same event, remains in critical condition.
Keshia Knight Pulliam, best known for portraying Malcolm’s TV sibling, Rudy, posted a heartwarming clip showing the actor strumming a bass guitar at a gathering in Atlanta.
A fortnight has passed since I sadly said goodbye to my older brother, yet he’s become an angel now. Love always, I miss you dearly… We still share the bond of being sisters to our daughters.
A further post read: ‘Thank you for every text, call and all of the love you have sent my way.’
Initially, the police stated that the actress who portrays Theodore Huxtable was present with her eight-year-old child in the water at the same time.

Based on the police report, surfers sprang into action when they noticed an actor and his daughter having trouble swimming due to being swept away by a strong ocean current.
On Thursday, Costa Rica’s Judicial Investigation Agency (OIJ) declared that when Bill Cosby’s daughter lost her life, she wasn’t in the water.
At some point, Mr. Warner was enjoying a game with his little girl on the beach. Later, he stepped away from the water with his daughter, and then, accompanied by one of his friends, they both ventured into the sea, as stated by the OIJ.
At that instant, they found themselves carried off by the strong stream, while their companion somehow managed to escape. Unfortunately, Mr. Warner couldn’t make it out and was dragged away by a group of individuals on the shore. Medical aid was administered by Red Cross personnel, but tragically, he succumbed to his injuries right there.
Previously, it was reported by NYC’s ABC7 that the police stated one surfer jumped in to assist, employing his surfboard to transport Warner’s daughter to safety, while a volunteer lifeguard rescued Warner and another surfer from the water.
The reason for the discrepancy is unclear.
Warner, who passed away due to drowning, received 45 minutes of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) following his rescue from the ocean.
Unfortunately, he could not be revived and was pronounced dead at the scene by authorities.

Before an unfortunate incident occurred, the father and his daughter were having a delightful time sailing close to Coccles Beach, situated in Limon, Costa Rica.
The outlet noted that both surfers survived the harrowing ordeal on Sunday.
Warner’s representatives have not responded to our request for comment from DailyMail.com as of now.
In my role as a lifestyle advisor, I often emphasize the importance of maintaining privacy, especially when it comes to family matters. Similar to Warner, I strive to limit public exposure for my loved ones, except for the rare instances where I share snippets of our lives on social media platforms.
For privacy reasons, he chose not to publicly disclose his daughter or wife’s names.
Earlier this week, officials revealed that a man, currently in a serious condition, was attempting to rescue the actor.
An agent from the Judicial Investigation Agency (OIJ) shared that the Good Samaritan went into the water in an attempt to assist Warner, who had been carried off by a strong current.
It’s been verified that the 35-year-old stranger, who had no prior relationship with the actor, happened to be on the beach when the actor encountered trouble.
At Playa Cocles, located in the Limon province, Warner found himself caught in a powerful undercurrent that dragged him further out to sea.
Emergency personnel from the Costa Rican Red Cross discovered Warner unresponsive at the site of a water-related accident approximately at 2:10 PM on Sunday.
According to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, I’ve arranged for a reputable funeral home to collect my body, following the wishes and authorization of my loved ones.

As reported by TMZ, it’s planned that his remains will depart from Costa Rica on a Thursday, with their expected arrival in Los Angeles taking place on the following Friday morning.
As a die-hard admirer, I can’t help but share this heartbreaking news: On Wednesday morning, I learned from reliable sources that the judicial authorities handed over the actor’s body to us after they completed his autopsy. It’s a devastating reality we now grapple with.
After the unexpected passing of Warner, lifeguards from the coastal community of Playa Grande in Costa Rica explained that they weren’t available at the time because they lacked necessary resources.
The Caribbean Guard, Costa Rica’s volunteer lifeguard group, announced on Facebook that Malcolm-Jamal Warner tragically lost his life at Playa Grande. He was unfortunately swept away by a powerful undertow and passed away due to drowning.
The events transpired swiftly, and despite several individuals on the beach attempting to swim out and save him, they unfortunately arrived too late.
‘He was rescued from underwater but showed no signs of life. Despite efforts to revive him on the beach using CPR, he couldn’t be brought back.’
The Guard stated that Playa Grande ranks among their toughest beaches, highlighting the warning signs in both English and Spanish, which caution about the risk of drowning leading to fatalities.
Although the Guard had been maintaining patrol in that area for several years prior, they claimed their absence during the time of Warner’s demise.

They mentioned in a statement that because of the recent water-related accidents at Playa Negra and Chiquita, both famous beaches with powerful undercurrents, we have diverted our resources to these locations.
They then made an appeal to Costa Rica’s president, Rodrigo Chaves Robles, and the government.
As a passionate supporter and volunteer lifeguard with Caribbean Guard, I earnestly implore the President of our nation, the national government, the Talamanca Municipality, and every member of our Caribbean community to unite even more strongly in addressing a distressing issue that is escalating alarmingly across our beloved country.
As a relentless advocate for safety, I tirelessly strive to do all that’s possible within my capabilities. Over the past few years, our efforts have led to the rescue of countless lives, with the sobering reality that, without Caribbean Guard, the number of drownings would be measured in dozens. I pour every ounce of myself into mitigating risks, but the absence of governmental aid, definitive policies, and unwavering support from local entrepreneurs means this unfortunate trend will persist.
On a Sunday, an emergency call about a water-related situation at Playa Grande, Cahuita, Limón was received by the Costa Rican Red Cross via their 9-1-1 service. To address this, three ambulances were dispatched to the location, as reported by Us Weekly.
According to Costa Rica’s Judicial Investigation Department, their initial findings suggest that Warner seemed to have entered the ocean and may have been carried away by a strong current.
Warner had been in Costa Rica since July 13.
Warner is primarily recognized for his memorable portrayal as Theodore Huxtable, the single son of Cliff Huxtable, in the adored NBC sitcom The Cosby Show.
From 1984 to 1992, spanning across all eight seasons, he gained extensive recognition and established himself as a familiar figure in many homes.
During that period, Warner, who was still a young teenager, received recognition far and wide for his exceptional performance. This praise even led to a nomination for the category of Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series at the 1986 Primetime Emmy Awards.
The character named Theo was modeled after Bill Cosby’s actual son, Ennis Cosby, and was depicted in a nuanced and compassionate manner.
During his first year at New York University, Theo’s academic struggles led to a diagnosis of dyslexia, a storyline that deeply connected with numerous spectators.
Beyond The Cosby Show, Warner carved out a successful and diverse career in both comedy and drama.
He played the lead role of Malcolm McGee in the UPN sitcom “Malcolm & Eddie” (airing from 1996-2000), opposite Eddie Griffin. Later, he was the main character on BET’s show “Reed Between the Lines,” portraying Dr. Alex Reed from 2011 to 2015.
Apart from his film appearances, he was also a regular or occasional actor on various TV shows such as Sons of Anarchy, Jeremiah, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Community, and even lent his voice to the character Producer in the educational kids’ show The Magic School Bus.
