BBC’s upcoming detective drama reboot Lynley has confirmed a release window for later this year.
The show is based on the Inspector Lynley books by Elizabeth George. Leo Suter from “Vikings” plays the main character, Detective Inspector Tommy Lynley, while Sofia Barclay, known for her role in “Ted Lasso,” portrays Detective Sergeant Barbara Havers.
Consisting of four installments, the series additionally features Daniel Mays from “Line of Duty” as DCI Brian Nies. It will air on BBC One and iPlayer this fall.
Lynley, a remarkably astute detective, stands out amongst his peers because of his noble upbringing. Partnered with DS Havers, a diligent sergeant known for her keen observation, she hails from a working-class community.
In an unexpected turn of events, the seemingly disparate pairing of Lynley and Havers proves to be unstoppable, bound together by their shared commitment to uphold justice, despite their differences.
Their skills complement each other perfectly – his intellect and her intuition. They thrive best when working together, discovering their true places in the world.
Alongside Niamh Walsh portraying Tommy’s fellow student at Oxford, Helen Clyde, Michael Workeye takes on the role of tech expert Tony Bekele, while Joshua Sher brings Simon St James, a forensic scientist, to life on screen.
Elizabeth George expressed her excitement in a statement upon hearing that Thomas Lynley and Barbara Havers would return to TV screens once more, particularly with the involvement of the BBC and Britbox, as well as the skilled production team at Playground.
