A classic murder mystery series is officially getting a reboot with Hollywood A-lister
Jamie Lee Curtis has confirmed her involvement in the Murder, She Wrote reboot.
In this timeless series, Angela Lansbury portrayed Jessica Fletcher, a novelist who had an uncanny knack for unraveling intricate murder mysteries in the make-believe town of Cabot Cove, located in Maine. The show spanned 12 seasons from 1984 to 1996 and even spawned four TV movies after its initial run.
2023 saw the announcement of a new film adaptation, with writing and executive production duties handled by Rebecca Angelo and Lauren Schuker Blum from “Orange Is the New Black”.

In the meantime, it’s been said that Curtis was planning to play the famous main character. Now, this speculation has been verified as true by her directly.
As a devoted admirer, I recently had the pleasure of chatting with the talented star in question, and they were kind enough to discuss the prospect of reviving the classic show “Murder, She Wrote.
Curtis said, pausing dramatically, ‘It’s…’ He then flashed a grin at the camera and finished, ‘Taking place.’
We’re nearly there, and I’m really looking forward to it. However, I’m trying to keep my anticipation in check until we begin filming. There are a few more tasks I need to tackle first before I can truly savor the experience.
The interview was held on the premiere red carpet for Curtis’ upcoming film “Freakier Friday,” set to hit UK theaters on August 8th. This much-anticipated sequel brings back the original cast, including Lindsay Lohan, Chad Michael Murray, and Stephen Tobolowsky, who are all reprising their iconic roles once more.
On “Freakier Friday,” an adult Anna character finds herself juggling the roles of mother to her daughter Harper (played by Julia Butters) and future step-daughter Lily (portrayed by Sophia Hammons), as they all experience life together.
Anna (Lohan) and Tess (Curtis) find themselves entangled once more in a comical case of body-swapping, but this time, they’re not the sole participants.
Freakier Friday will be released in cinemas on 8 August, 2025.
