Adam Sandler honors late costar Cameron Boyce in Happy Gilmore 2… six years after his tragic death at age 20
Adam Sandler is once again making sure Cameron Boyce is never forgotten.
Approximately six years following Boyce’s sad demise, the cherished actor appeared in a posthumous role in Happy Gilmore 2, Adam Sandler’s latest Netflix comedy, that was released on Netflix on July 25th.
At the golf course reception area, there’s a TV showing an earlier scene where Boyce is seen engaged in play.
It seems like this video is taken from the Disney Channel show “Jessie,” where Boyce was a star from 2011 to 2015.
A subtle yet impactful homage, it was so fleeting that some fans found his momentary screen appearance profoundly significant.
A fan expressed on X, ‘Including Cameron Boyce in #HappyGilmore2 as a cameo, by Adam Sandler, is incredibly touching.’ He had a special bond with the young actor and it’s heartening to see him preserving his legacy in this way.
Another wrote, ‘Adam Sandler honoring Cameron Boyce in Happy Gilmore 2 melts my heart.’
A user noted that Adam added a small tribute for Cameron Boyce, who played his son in Grown Ups, in the sequel of Happy Gilmore. The user then expressed their emotion by saying, ‘Allow me a moment to weep.’
2019 saw the passing away of Boyce, who portrayed Sandler’s son in the Grown Ups movies, at the tender age of 20. His death was caused by a seizure stemming from a persistent health issue.
In that moment, Sandler expressed a heartfelt homage, describing him as ‘one of the kindest, most gifted, and most honorable young individuals I’ve ever known.’
He deeply cherished that child, felt immense affection for his family, and had a profound concern for the world… Now, all of us are left with shattered hearts,” was what he expressed.
In my role as a lifestyle expert, I had the distinct pleasure of acknowledging Cameron Boyce in my 2020 Netflix production, Hubie Halloween. During the closing credits, a heartfelt tribute card was displayed: ‘In loving memory of Cameron Boyce. Taken from us far too early and one of the kindest, coolest, funniest, and most gifted young talents we’ve known. Your spirit continues to shine brightly in our hearts, forever.’
In 2010, Boyce portrayed Keithie Feder, the pampered child of Lenny Feder (played by Sandler), a spoiled son from the comedy “Grown Ups”. He reprised his role in the 2013 sequel titled “Grown Ups 2”.
In the Disney Channel’s Descendants films and short series, Boyce gained notoriety for portraying Carlos, the son of the infamous 101 Dalmatians antagonist, Cruella de Vil.

Boyce was found unresponsive in his home on July 6, 2019, and pronounced dead later that day.
Three days after his passing, his family confirmed that it was due to a severe epileptic seizure. This was later supported by the results of the autopsy conducted that same month.
Recently, on the sixth anniversary of his untimely demise, three of Boyce’s fellow actors from the show “Descendants” paid tribute to him.
Sofia Carson, Booboo Stewart, and Sarah Jeffery each posted on Instagram to honor their cherished fellow cast member.
Carson posted a vintage, timeless photograph – without a specific date – featuring herself, Boyce, and their Descendants castmate Dove Cameron (as Mal).
She appended a touching message saying, “Our Guardian Angel. Eternally,” that garnered more than 1.1 million likes within nine hours, coming from her massive following of 20.3 million people.

Additionally, Jeffrey posted an old photograph from 2014 on his Instagram story, reminiscent of him and Boyce, accompanied by a heartfelt message of remembrance.
As I stood there, clad in a black hoodie and a matching beanie, my friend Jeffrey, attired in a brown coat and a black stocking cap, was in a warm embrace with me.

Kenny Ortega, the director behind all the Descendants movies, posted an old photo of Boyce alongside a heartfelt message on Instagram.

Ortega said, “I’ll never be able to forget you, Cameron. A part of me belongs to you. The moments we shared while working together are among my most cherished memories.
As soon as you stepped into the room, it became lighter due to your arrival. Your humor, creativity, skill, kindness, and warm spirit were unparalleled, he noted further.

The young ones, heirs of renowned Disney figures, took it upon themselves to liberate their parents who were in captivity.

In a different telling, Evie from Carson’s tale is the offspring of the Wicked Queen in Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Jay from Stewart’s storyline is the son of Jafar from Aladdin, and Jeffrey is the child born to Aurora and Prince Philip in the Sleeping Beauty narrative.
In addition to his roles in Mirrors, Eagle Eye, Grown Ups, Judy Moody and the Not Bummer Summer, and Runts, Boyce is recognized for portraying Luke Ross on Jessie between 2011 and 2015.
