This destination is a must-visit for Pokémon fans heading to Japan!

PokéPark Kanto, the initial permanent outdoor destination from this franchise, is set to open its doors to guests in early 2026, as revealed on the most recent Pokémon Presents broadcast.

Nestled within the expansive Yomiuriland amusement park in Inagi, Tokyo, Japan, approximately 26,000 square meters have been earmarked for redevelopment. This area will be split into two primary zones: Sedge Town and Pokémon Forest.

In this new layout, Sedge Town and the Pokémon Forest will serve as the park’s main attractions.

Junichi Masuda, a co-founder of Game Freak and known for crafting the memorable melodies in many Pokémon games, shared detailed insights into the aims and motivations behind creating PokéPark Kanto.

Our aim is to expand viewers’ perception of Pokémon lifestyles and relationships by providing an environment where they can immerse themselves in a world filled with Pokémon. This way, we can greet them warmly, “Welcome to the Pokémon world!

A first look at PokéPark Kanto’s Sedge Town and Pokémon Forest

In the display shown at Pokémon Presents, it’s revealed that Sedge Town within PokéPark is designed to be a shared space for both humans and Pokémon. It features attractions like amusement rides, a healing center for Pokémon (Pokémon Center), a shop where you can buy supplies (Poké Mart), a Gym for training battles, an area for Pokémon combat, various shops, and other buildings. For those who love capturing memorable moments, there will be numerous photo-worthy spots throughout the town!

Across PokéPark, you’ll find the expansive Pokémon Forest, mirroring various ecosystems where diverse Pokémon species naturally reside. Upon entering, visitors are welcome to traverse different landscapes and uncover life-sized Pokémon inhabitants who dwell in their appropriate habitats, including those hidden underground.

Although the name suggests it, PokéPark Kanto will feature Pokémons not just from the Kanto region, but also from other areas. It was given this name to emphasize its permanent location within Tokyo, part of Japan’s Kanto district. Unlike previous attractions like the closed PokéPark and Pokémon Fossil Museum, which were temporary exhibits that traveled to different locations, this one will remain stationary in Tokyo.

The specific timetable for the debut of PokéPark Kanto hasn’t been finalized yet, but it looks like we can expect it to happen sometime within the first three months of 2026.

But, it’s expected that tickets for the attraction can be purchased by the close of 2025, implying that we could hear about the official opening date within a few months.
