Big Brother Australia announces returns to original broadcaster Channel Ten 17 years after leaving the network – as new host is confirmed

Channel 10 has confirmed Big Brother will be returning to Aussie screens.

The hit reality show announced via a Sunday Instagram post that the next season, airing in 2025, will be shot at the legendary Dreamworld amusement park on the Gold Coast.

17 years back, Channel Ten recorded the reality series at the amusement park, marking its debut on Australian television as Big Brother made its screen premiere.

In the video, Melissa Tracina, the latest host taking over from Sonia Kruger on the show, was seen answering a call. During the conversation, she disclosed that Big Brother had located a residence for the series.

‘Surprise, @BigBrotherAU is coming home to @DreamworldAU!’ the post was captioned.

Big Brother teased the big news on Saturday with a clip of an eye in a blue filter.

‘BIG #BBAU news incoming… keep an [eye] out,’ the caption read.

It was reported by Daily Mail Australia in June that Big Brother will make a comeback on the Gold Coast towards the end of the year; however, they didn’t provide an exact location.

Endemol Shine Australia, nearly confirming it, hinted at a revival of the show that will likely be filmed in the original location where it was made during its 7-year stint on Network 10 (2001-2008), as they issued a job posting for local post-production personnel.

‘Is seeking a post production team based in Queensland, who can work on-site, for the comeback of Big Brother, as stated in the announcement.’

The article didn’t mention a specific filming location, but it hinted that the upcoming season might be filmed somewhere northern, following the previous three seasons being shot in Sydney, with production coming to an end in 2024 when the series was canceled by Seven.

As a die-hard fan, I’m beyond excited to share that we’ll be graced with the return of our beloved series on the small screen starting early November! It’s not just a reunion; it’s like a family gathering that we’ve been eagerly waiting for. The best part? We’re looking at a grand finale wrapping up by the first half of December – mark your calendars, folks! Can’t wait to immerse myself in the captivating world of our favorite show once again!

The abandoned Gold Coast house was deliberately set on fire in June 2019.

Four children aged between 11 and 15 were later charged with arson after it was set ablaze.

Two nine-year-olds who were also arrested were released after assisting police with inquiries.

After the show was axed in 2014, the unoccupied set was left to rot for five years.

A new house was built in 2020 in Manly for when Channel Seven picked up the series.

In 2021, I found myself relocating from my original location to Sydney Olympic Park, following an eviction order issued by the National Parks and Wildlife Service.

The eviction notice was issued due to concerns about local wildlife.

The reality show is set to return to its initial broadcasting station, Channel Ten. The network has promised to align our local version with its successful global format.

For the upcoming season, a group of fresh residents will be continuously broadcasted around the clock, with the popular presenter, Melissa, taking over hosting duties.

As a die-hard fan, I’m thrilled beyond words! I’ve been eagerly awaiting this moment – the very second I heard that the series is getting a makeover. And This is simply unbelievable and I can hardly contain my excitement!

‘What’s so good about this is the livestream element,’ she said.

‘You won’t need to fret over receiving a poor edit or being portrayed as the “villain” of the season, since viewers have the flexibility to log in whenever they want and observe the activities of the [housemates] at their leisure.’

In the early 2000s, a popular television series, where contestants vie for a chance to remain in the house and receive cash prizes, achieved remarkable popularity on Channel Ten.

After that point, the program switched networks multiple times – initially moving to Channel Nine, followed by an updated edition on Channel Seven.
