Clash of Clans: How to earn over 10,000 Free Gems per year
Story Highlights
- Let us learn how to earn over 10,000 Free Gems per year in Clash of Clans.
It’s a dream for everyone to have a plentiful supply of free gems in their Clash of Clans accounts, and it often seems like we need to spend real money or rely on achievements to get them. However, there are many ways to earn free gems over time without relying on these methods. Let’s explore how you can accumulate over 10,000 gems annually just by playing the game consistently.
This handbook has been developed using a highly beneficial analysis initially posted on Reddit. The figures presented here consider regular daily activities only, without taking into account gems earned through Achievements, Special Events, the Supercell Store bonuses, or Tournament rewards.
How to earn over 10,000 Free Gems per year in Clash of Clans
Here’s a complete breakdown of the steps and calculations.
Earning Gems from Obstacles
Back in my hometown, nature regenerates various hurdles such as trees, mushrooms, and logs on a regular basis. Typically, each obstacle yields around 2.5 gems. Given that approximately 6 new obstacles appear daily, plus the additional builder base spawns, I’m looking at roughly 15 gems every day.
If you multiply that number each day by the total days in a year, you’d approximately end up with about 5,478 gems per year, simply by removing obstacles on a daily basis.
Gems obtained from Clan Games
Every month, Clan Games provide a series of reward levels. Regardless of whether you choose to retain the magical artifacts or transform them into jewels, the accumulated amount can become substantial.

In total, you can expect to earn around 3,600 gems each year through Clan Games, distributed across all six tiers and taking into account the bonus reward slot. However, it’s important to note that these gems come at the expense of other potential rewards.
Seasonal Challenge Rewards
Regardless of whether you opt for the Gold Pass or not, you can still acquire a good number of magical items through the complimentary Seasonal Challenges. By converting items like books (excluding the Book of Building, which is useful for Lab upgrades) and potions except for Builder and Research Potions, you can amass approximately 120 gems per season. This amounts to about 1,440 gems annually from the free tier of the Seasonal Challenges.
Gem Mine from the Builder Base
If your Gem Mine is fully upgraded and you activate the Clock Tower bonus daily, you’ll approximately make 6 gems each day – 5 from normal yield and an additional 1 as a result of the boost.

In a year’s time, it amounts to roughly 2,192 gems each year. If we don’t take advantage of the Clock Tower boost, you’ll only get approximately 1,825 gems annually, which means you’d be missing out on around 367 gems every year. So, it’s clear what action to take.
Getting Gems from Gem Boxes
Gem Boxes appear sporadically and contain 25 gems each. If you average around 2 boxes per month, that means you’ll receive approximately 600 gems per year. Although they don’t always appear frequently, it’s still a pleasant surprise when they do.
So the final count table looks like this:
Source | Estimated Gems/Year |
---|---|
Obstacles | 5,478 |
Clan Games | 3,600 |
Seasonal Challenges | 1,440 |
Gem Mine (with boost) | 2,192 |
Gem Boxes | 600 |
Total | 13,310 |
With regular gameplay, you’ll earn more than 13,000 gems annually, excluding any gains from special events, achievements, or using real money.
Optional Methods for More Gems
If you’re keen on amassing additional gems, there are some alternative strategies, though they require extra work and might not be beneficial for everyone. However, they do help increase your coin collection past 15,000 coins.
Clan War League Medals
As a member of my gaming clan in Clan War Leagues, I rack up medals based on our league standing and overall performance. These hard-earned medals can be exchanged for Resource Potions at a rate of 5 medals per potion. Later, I can sell these potions on the market for a cool 10 gems apiece.

To illustrate, if your guild finishes in the fourth position within Crystal III, you might receive approximately 250 medals every month. This equates to around 500 gems per month or roughly 6,000 gems annually. On the other hand, if you’re part of a top league like Champion I, this strategy can yield more than 14,000 gems annually.
Trader and Raid Medals
Alternatively, you could use your Raid Medals at the Trading Post to acquire magical artifacts. After that, if the Trading Post has a buyer interested in those items, you can exchange them for Gems. However, remember that the availability of items and your personal choices play a significant role in this process.
The preference among most gamers is to utilize Raid Medals to acquire beneficial goods such as Research Potions. Consequently, the number of gems you receive from this may differ significantly between players.
