Home seen on beloved Aussie TV show hits the market for $2.4M – so can you recognise this iconic house?

In the real estate market, an iconic and previously well-known property located in Williamstown, Victoria, is now up for sale. The asking price ranges between 2.19 million and 2.4 million dollars.

Many might remember the residence at 8 Thompson Street due to its appearance in the television series “Blue Heelers” from 1994 to 2006, as mentioned by realestate.com.au last Friday.

Constructed in 1907, this residence played a role in exterior scenes of the television series. Notably, 10 Thompson Street, recently changed hands, stood in for the imaginary Mt Thomas police station within the show’s narrative.

These buildings are designated as historic sites because they functioned as police stations in Williamstown at one point, specifically serving as the Sergeant’s and Watchhouse Keeper’s quarters before.

The eighth house boasts three bedrooms, with a spacious living area that can serve as an additional fourth bedroom if needed. It has beautiful Baltic pine flooring, charming fireplaces for cozy ambiance, and ornate pressed-metal ceilings throughout.

The property was last purchased in 2003 for $832,500. If it’s sold now at its estimated value, the current owner could potentially earn a profit of approximately $1,567,500.

According to Anthony Christakakis from Jellis Craig, the local authorities have given the go-ahead for expanding the house and revamping the garden.

‘The owners who intended to do the extension have moved overseas for work reasons,’ he said.

‘We have had lots of interest with some young families, especially locals.

‘It seems that being situated on a corner lot larger than 700 square meters, which could potentially be divided further (pending council approval), opens up countless opportunities for development.’

He went on to say number ten next door sold to a family earlier this year. 

In February, the charming old house where many scenes from the popular Australian TV show “Blue Heelers” were filmed went up for sale, priced between 2.8 and 3.1 million dollars.

This five-bedroom, two-bathroom house, known as a Federation property, was used as the setting for the Mount Thomas police station in the popular long-lasting cop drama series.

For 12 years, starting in 1994 and ending in 2006, the popular TV series “Blue Heelers” was broadcast on the Seven Network. It featured an extensive ensemble cast that included beloved actors such as Lisa McCune, Julie Nihill, and John Wood.

Nestled just 14 kilometers away from the city center, this beautifully maintained house is recognized as an exterior location for the television series “Blue Heelers,” which portrayed a quaint small town in Victoria.

The real estate agents involved shared with the Herald Sun that the listing for the delightful house drew interest from prospective buyers who held cherished memories of the TV series.

The television series “Blue Heelers” holds a notable place in Australian television history as it ranks fourth among all shows and boasts an impressive collection of 25 Logie awards. Additionally, the show’s leading actress, Lisa McCune, was awarded a total of four Gold Logies for her exceptional performance in the series.

Notable Australian actors with successful Hollywood careers made appearances as guests throughout the series’ extended duration, among them Hugh Jackman and Peter O’Brien.

Alongside them were Charles ‘Bud’ Tingwell, famously known for his role in the 1960s-70s Homicide series, and John Howard, a notable actor from the TV show SeaChange.

In 2024, the four-time Gold Logie recipient grabbed attention as she triumphed on Dancing with the Stars Australia.

In a nail-biting final, the actress won the Mirror Ball Trophy, partnered by Ian Waite, during the Channel Seven dance contest.

Additionally, she received a grant of $20,000, which she allocated to her selected charities, namely the RCD Foundation and the Harrison Riedel Foundation.
