Jo Wood reveals she wanted to prove she wasn’t a victim after ‘letting herself go’ following divorce from ex-husband Ronnie

Jo Wood expressed that she aimed to show she wasn’t defined by being a victim, following her transformation after her separation from Ronnie Wood.

The 70-year-old was married to Rolling Stones rocker Ronnie, 78, for 24 years between 1985-2011.

As I sat down for an enlightening chat with The Times, I shared my journey through heartache and the steps I took to rise again. It’s all about finding strength within oneself, one moment at a time.

She shared that she learned: “Following Ronnie, I realized it’s crucial for me to remind myself, ‘I am not a victim; I can continue living happily.’

‘She stated that when she was deeply heartbroken, she allowed herself to fall into disarray. She stopped shaving her legs and other parts of her body, and she felt utterly wretched.’

Recently, I ran into Ronnie at a hotel in Barbados. He was there accompanied by his wife, Sally (aged 47), and their identical daughters.

When asked about our recent encounter, Jo chuckled and remarked, “It was just like slipping into a familiar, comfortable pair of shoes I’ve worn for years.

In my novel, the editor suggested adding more anger, but I chose not to comply as the story doesn’t revolve around Ronnie. However, I aim to convey a message: forgiveness brings liberation. I didn’t want the narrative to reflect bitterness and anger, for I believe that phase of life has passed and a new path awaits. Years ago, I had already found it in my heart to forgive Ronnie.

In a conversation with Richard Eden from The Daily Mail, she mentioned: “I had just arrived, and on my first night, I strolled into the hotel restaurant and found Ronnie with his spouse and children.

‘You should have seen his face when he saw me.’

Ronnie currently is wed to theater producer Sally, who is 31 years younger than him, and they share two identical daughters together. However, let me clarify, I am not a stalker, stated Jo.

Jo and Ronnie co-parent their children, Leah who is 46 years old, and Tyrone. Additionally, Jo assumed the role of a stepmother towards Ronnie’s son Jesse, aged 48, from his previous marriage.

Apart from that, she’s a mother to Jamie, who is 50 years old, from her previous marriage with clothing businessman Peter Greene.

Previously, Jo openly discussed the key to maintaining a cordial post-divorce bond with her former husband, Ronnie, whom she continues to have a friendly relationship with following their split in 2009.

She mentioned that she could call him if needed, whether it be for help with problems or similar situations.

However, the same applies to me with Keith Richards too. I ran into Keith not too long ago, accompanied by Patti. I get along well with everyone involved. I haven’t done anything improper!

In my opinion, when you have both children and grandchildren, it’s significant to ensure that you maintain a connection with them as adults. It gives me comfort to be able to say, ‘The kids have been visiting, even though they are grown up. I can still communicate with them if needed.’

Over the past few years, I’ve found myself completely captivated by the transformation of the one and only Jo. Rather than clinging to her rock-and-roll days with husband Ronnie, she’s swapped the city lights for a serene, eco-conscious countryside cottage. It’s a testament to her evolving spirit!

Besides relying on Wi-Fi, Jo mentioned that she mostly lives independently, giving up her past life of drinking and smoking marijuana in favor of cultivating her own vegetables. She’s also working on developing a capsule supplement named Longevity to enhance her wellbeing.

In conversation with The Telegraph, Jo openly acknowledged that she doesn’t possess an addictive character trait, which facilitated her decision to abandon her party-centric lifestyle when she unexpectedly realized one day that such a lifestyle didn’t align with her desires.

Recently, Jo openly shared a humorous pet name bestowed upon her by her grandkids, acknowledging their full awareness of her vibrant history with drugs and the rock and roll scene.

In her youth, the ex-wife of The Rolling Stones’ guitarist, Ronnie Wood, was famed for her lively participation in social gatherings and festivities.

Later on, she confessed that her grandkids have taken to nicknaming her “Gangster Grandma” following a revelation about her past escapades they learned from her.

In conversation on the Good Housekeeping UK podcast “My Life in A Biscuit Tin”, Jo shared: ‘Although I probably shouldn’t, I was riding along with them, and grandkids Maggie and Kobe were laughing uproariously.’

‘They went, “Gran, have you done any drugs?” I said, “Of course I have, but I don’t recommend it”.

‘I said, “Because it didn’t get me anywhere except lots of sleepless nights”.

She emphasized the necessity of truthfulness towards family, stating that “It’s impossible to deceive them, as they will inevitably discover the truth.

I had attempted to caution them that it would be futile, yet I found myself in a unique predicament. Consequently, they jokingly referred to me as ‘Gangster Grandma’ from then on.

She has 10 grandchildren in total, four from Jamie, two from Leah and four from Jesse.
