No more Halo Infinite in HCS after 2025 World Championships
After the Halo Championship Series (HCS) 2025 World Championship in October, Halo Infinite will conclude its participation. Here’s a breakdown of the remaining events, future plans, and implications for Halo esports:
What remains:
– The HCS 2023 Season 2 Finals in September
– The HCS 2024 Season 1 and Season 2 tournaments
– The HCS 2025 Season 1, including the World Championship in October
What’s next for Halo esports:
– Potential new game releases or expansions that could introduce fresh competitive play and esports opportunities
– Possible changes to the HCS format, ruleset, or structure to keep the scene vibrant and engaging
– Continued support from 343 Industries and the Halo community for grassroots events, content creation, and player development
Implications:
– The conclusion of Halo Infinite’s esports journey may lead to a shift in focus among top players and teams towards other games or emerging competitive scenes
– A potential new Halo game could spark renewed interest in the franchise’s esports scene, attracting fresh talent and revitalizing the community
– The ongoing evolution of Halo esports will depend on the continued collaboration between developers, organizers, and passionate players to ensure its long-term success.
Regrettably, followers of intense Halo Infinite competitions should brace for change, as 343 Industries announced their withdrawal from the Halo Championship Series (HCS) following this year’s World Championships in October.
Looking forward, it’s exciting to know that next year marks the 25th anniversary of the Halo franchise. With this milestone approaching, there’s a possibility we might see a fresh title released in less than a year!
No more Halo Infinite at HCS after remaining Year 4 events
Initially, Halo Infinite made its debut in the HCS (Halo Championship Series) back in 2021 and is currently in its fourth year of competitive play. There’s still some excitement left as two Major tournaments and the HCS World Championships in October remain on the schedule. Collectively, these three events promise a prize pool of over $1.5 million.
Remaining Halo Infinite HCS Events in 2025 (Check out the full 2025 Roadmap):
- Aug. 1 to Aug. 3 – HCS Major Salt Lake City, United States
- Oct. 3 to Oct. 5 – HCS Major Charlotte, United States
- Oct. 24 to Oct. 26 – Halo HCS World Championships – Seattle, United States
2026 will see our continued backing of Halo Infinite and its competitive tournaments. However, starting from next year’s Halo World Championship, the Halo Championship Series (HCS) will transition away from Halo Infinite as the official competition game.

343 Industries to shift “towards the next era of Halo”
According to a recent statement made by Tashi, who serves as the Director of Competitive Engagement at Halo, the studio believes now is the appropriate moment to transition away from Halo Infinite.
Since the studio is progressing further into the future of Halo, we believe it’s appropriate for the Official HCS Competition to transition from Halo Infinite. The Year 4 events will mark the final official HCS tournaments for Halo Infinite, and this is your last opportunity to be a part of this significant milestone in Halo esports history.

Halo Infinite isn’t a newcomer to the Halo Championship Series (HCS), it’s actually the fourth game to join. The series reemerged post-COVID pandemic in 2021, with Halo Infinite being added to it then.

New Halo game in HCS for 2026?
As a dedicated Halo fan, I can’t help but feel a pang of excitement as Halo Infinite steps down from the HCS scene, leaving an empty slot that might just be filled by a fresh, new Halo game. Plus, it’s the silver jubilee year for the Halo franchise in 2026, and whispers about a potential remake of the classic Halo: Combat Evolved have been circulating. Here’s to hoping we’ll be revisiting the ringworld again soon!
So far, there hasn’t been an official word on a new Halo game. But, considering the timing of the October World Championships, it seems like an ideal opportunity to unveil what we might expect in 2026, or even earlier.
