The Missing star’s “head-scratcher” crime drama with Siobhan Finneran is now on Netflix

Today, I’m thrilled to share that the gripping mystery series “Loch Ness” has made its way onto Netflix! Starring none other than Siobhan Finneran, known for her captivating roles in “Happy Valley,” and Laura Fraser, who stole our hearts in “The Missing,” this crime drama originally aired on ITV under the name “The Loch.” Not to mention, it features the talented Don Gilet from the mesmerizing “Death in Paradise!” I can’t wait to dive into this chilling mystery!

The six-episode series primarily focuses on Annie Redford (Fraser), a local police officer from a small town, and her pragmatic partner Lauren Quigley (Finneran). Together, they delve into a string of murders. Filmed along the Scottish seashore, the breathtaking landscapes were another key aspect, prompting discussions similar to that of Broadchurch, which was set against the picturesque Dorset coastline.

Upon its debut, the crime drama garnered a blend of opinions from critics on Rotten Tomatoes. The Daily Telegraph labeled it a “jovial serial killer story,” while the Daily Express found “Broadchurch, adorned in tartan, has potential.” The Post New Zealand recommended it as “definitely worth checking out.” However, the Daily Mail criticized it as a “puzzling and disjointed crime series” called Loch Ness.

Lately, Siobhan Finneran has taken on a role in “Protection,” a new police drama produced by ITV that focuses on Detective Inspector Liz Nyles. This show made its debut in the spring. Viewers were swift to express their appreciation for the series, noting similarities with “Line of Duty” and likening it to ITV’s long-running crime series “The Bay.

As a gaming enthusiast, I’m super excited to share that my favorite actor is diving into the world of television! They’ve joined the cast of an upcoming Netflix original drama titled “Out of the Dust“. This psychological thriller sounds intense, and it’s being labeled as a “cult drama”. The talented Molly Windsor from the BBC mini-series “Three Girls” and Asa Butterfield, known for his role in “Sex Education“, are also part of this intriguing project. Unfortunately, we don’t have a release date yet, but filming began in 2024. Can’t wait to see it unfold on the small screen!

Currently, enthusiasts of Siobhan Finneran’s performances have the opportunity to revisit the series “Loch Ness” (alternatively known as “The Loch”) again, as it re-emerges on Netflix.

Loch Ness aired on ITV and is available to stream on ITVX and Netflix.
