Disney+ Just Introduced Iron Man’s Historic New Sidekick (Photos)

In an upcoming Marvel project on Disney+, Iron Man makes his comeback, this time accompanied by others. The exciting new animated series titled “Iron Man and His Remarkable Companions” debuts on August 11, featuring a young Tony Stark embarking on global missions alongside his friends. Among the iron-clad allies of Iron Man are Riri Williams (Ironheart) and Amadeus Cho (Iron Hulk), while the series also introduces a four-legged canine sidekick for our superhero.

In this presentation, you’ll encounter Iron Man’s remarkable companions, including Gamma, also known as Iron Pup. A unique addition to Marvel lore, Gamma is a dog characterized by her brown fur, multi-colored blue and brown eyes. This is the first instance of a canine serving as Iron Man’s sidekick. Lending his voice to Gamma is Fred Tatasciore. She is an integral part of the Iron Friends team, even earning a dedicated episode in the Disney Jr. series.>

In the fifth installment of “Meet Iron Man and His Remarkable Companions“, titled “Meet Iron Dog“, viewers are introduced to a character named Gamma, who loves spending time playing catch-up with her pals using a Frisbee.

But upon Absorbing Man’s arrival and his theft of Gamma’s flying disk, the Iron Friends unite with the intention of retrieving it.

The episode uncovers the fact that Gamma possesses a personal iron-suit, making her a heavily armed dog-like ally for the team.

In simple terms, Iron Pup wears a green and purple suit adorned with an iron helmet designed to accommodate her ears and snout. A button located on her neck is used by Gamma to activate this suit.

The armor that Iron Pup wears grants her powers comparable to those of her fellow Iron Friends. She’s capable of flight due to the thrusters in her armor, as well as increased speed and strength. One unique power possessed by Iron Pup is an “iron bark,” which generates ultrasonic sound waves that can deter adversaries. This special ability was crucial in helping the team defeat Absorbing Man and reclaim the flying disc.

Marvel Studios Animation and Atomic Cartoons have teamed up to create the show Iron Man and His Remarkable Companions, with Sean Coyle serving as executive producer. Characters from Marvel like Vision, Ultron, Captain America (Sam Wilson), and Black Panther also make appearances in this series. The series will debut on August 11, and some short episodes can already be viewed on YouTube.

Marvel Introduces a Rival Super Dog

In the series “Iron Man and His Awesome Friends“, Iron Pup makes his entrance, following closely on the heels of Krypto the Superdog who has been winning over audiences since the global release of Superman. These two canine comrades hail from different worlds, yet they are indisputably integral members of their respective teams.

Significantly, Iron Pup isn’t a character originating from Marvel comics. Instead, she appears to be uniquely developed for the comic book series “Iron Man and His Awesome Friends“, serving as Tony Stark’s initial canine friend.

In other words, while the Marvel Cinematic Universe hasn’t delved deep into on-screen animal companions, characters such as Jeff the Land Shark from “Marvel Rivals”, Lucky the Pizza Dog in “Hawkeye”, and Goose the cat/Flerkin in “Captain Marvel” have become popular among fans. With Iron Pup’s introduction in “Iron Man and His Awesome Friends”, it could be possible that a canine character donning an iron suit might find its way into the Marvel Studios universe as well.
