On Thursday, it was officially confirmed by the WWE that Hulk Hogan, legendary professional wrestler, passed away at the age of 71. The Clearwater Police Department in Florida reported that the cause of death was a cardiac arrest.
The 12-time world champion wrestler significantly contributed to transforming the WWE into a worldwide business empire by setting groundbreaking standards during his matches. In recognition of this, Hogan was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame twice – firstly in 2005 by his friend Sylvester Stallone, and later in 2020 as part of the NWO, an American professional wrestling team.
Back in the day, my wrestling abilities earned me a reputation that was hard to beat. I became one of the most recognized wrestlers of my era, eventually snagging roles in Hollywood movies. In 1982, you might have seen me as Thunderlips in Rocky III. Over the years, I also starred in films like No Holds Barred (1989), Suburban Commando (1991), Mr. Nanny (1993), and Santa With Muscles (1996). On the small screen, I made an appearance in the 1985 CBS cartoon, Hulk Hogan’s Rock ‘n’ Wrestling, and later led a reality show with my family called Hogan Knows Best.
The wrestling entertainment company, WWE, expressed sadness upon learning about the passing of Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan. Known as one of pop culture’s most iconic figures, Hogan played a significant role in helping WWE gain global recognition during the 1980s. WWE offers its deepest sympathies to Hogan’s family, friends, and fans at this difficult time.
