channel 5 announces a comeback for the Yorkshire-based period series, “The Hardacres,” promising a multitude of unexpected turns in its second season.
After the highly successful premiere of season one, which aired in October 2024, the network has officially announced that the acclaimed production house, Playground (known for producing shows like All Creatures Great and Small), will take on the role of executive producer for the series.
Slated to consist of six hour-long episodes, a brief synopsis for season two has been released.
In the aftermath of their blockbuster debut series, which chronicled the Hardacre family’s journey from poverty to immense wealth and the unforeseen complications money presented, the upcoming season delves into the Hardacres as they move into Hardacre Hall and focus on transforming their environment… with the usual ambition, conflict, and repercussions that come along.
At present, specifics about the actors involved are scant, but it’s anticipated that Julie Graham, Liam McMahon, Claire Cooper, Adam Little, Shannon LaVelle, and Zak Ford-Willams will return to portray their characters as part of the Hardacre family in the upcoming season.

One of three previously approved shows, titled “The Hardacres,” is set to return on Channel 5. In addition, the period drama, “The Teacher,” and its anthology format, which has already aired two seasons, will come back for a third round. Notably, “Unforgotten” star Victoria Hamilton will lead this new installment.
Similarly, it has been confirmed that the series The Madame Blanc Mysteries, featuring Sally Lindsay, will broadcast its inaugural full-length Christmas special this year. On Instagram, Lindsay has posted pictures from the set and expressed her excitement about the outcome, stating that she’s already “delighted with the results”.

Apart from bringing back favorite series, Channel 5 has also added some fresh faces to its lineup. For example, there’s “Death in Benidorm,” a detective drama with a twist similar to “Death in Paradise.” Additionally, we have “Imposter,” a four-part drama featuring Kym Marsh from “Coronation Street” and Jackie Woodburne, a beloved figure from “Neighbours.
A woman named Helen, a prosperous hotel owner, will be trailed by a mysterious figure – Amanda, the daughter she had given up for adoption years ago. As Helen forms a bond with Amanda, she begins to harbor doubts about her true identity. Before long, a complex plot unfolds, leading to deception, betrayal, and eventually, a chilling act of murder.
Season two of The Hardacres has yet to receive a release date.
