Osher Günsberg reveals the REAL reason why Channel 10 decided to fire Survivor host Jonathan LaPaglia

Osher Günsberg has weighed in on the axing of Jonathan LaPaglia from Australian Survivor.

The television presenter, known for hosting shows like “The Masked Singer” and “The Bachelor” before their cancellations last year, supported Channel 10’s firing of a well-liked celebrity, explaining that it was simply a matter of ‘the business of entertainment’.

During these times where nothing much is getting the green light, it’s just the previously resumed shows that continue to move forward, as I shared with Chattr yesterday.

As a devoted admirer, I’d express it this way: I’ve got to say, networks are pulling out all the stops to ensure their programming remains captivating. And here’s a scoop: the tough choice to bid farewell to Jonathan was apparently made with the intention of keeping viewers glued to their screens at home, as per Osher.

If it’s necessary for maintaining the health of Australian Survivor, remember, it’s all about show business, not making friends.

Osher further explained that, being someone who took pleasure in hosting TV shows, he had a deeper comprehension of the subject compared to many others.

In my professional opinion as a lifestyle expert, I often find myself making decisions based on their practical benefits, or what I refer to as the “business case.” This rational approach helps guide me towards the choices that are most likely to yield positive results.

Back in June, I was absolutely crushed when Jonathan confirmed that after a whole decade of hosting Australian Survivor, he had been let go from his beloved position.

In the coming season titled “Australia V The World,” which is scheduled for broadcast this year, the 55-year-old host who has led the popular show since 2016 will appear for the last time.

In a lengthy Instagram post, Jonathan said he was shocked by Channel Ten’s decision to let him go.

He also revealed the brutal way the network delivered the news – via telephone.

‘For the past decade, Australian Survivor has had some incredibly shocking blindsides, but this one could be the wildest yet… and guess who it happened to?’ He shared this thought on Instagram.

He shared that he got a phone call from The Network expressing gratitude for his tireless efforts and commitment to the program, but for the upcoming season, they are choosing to explore a new path instead.

To mix things up due to a slight drop in ratings, an unprecedented move was planned. Instead of a tribal switch, this time it’s a host swap! That’s correct, the host will be changing for the first time.

‘Tonight won’t be like other nights when we go to vote; usually, nobody leaves the competition. But this time, somebody definitely will. Since I have no safety net, it might just be me who gets eliminated.’

“I deeply cherish and will sadly reminisce about the incredibly gifted team, every skillful player, and our dedicated, witty spectators. My admiration for this extraordinary sport has never wavered and never will.

Leading Australian Survivor has been an incredible journey for me, making it incredibly tough to be voted off. But I must respect the tribe’s decision, so let me say: ‘JLP… the tribe has decided.’

The remarks below the post were overflowing with affection for the long-serving TV presenter, along with disdain towards Channel Ten for firing the cherished celebrity.

‘Boo @channel10au, what’re you thinking? JLP is the show,’ one person wrote.

Another added: ‘WTAF! Huge mistake by Channel 10. We love you JLP. So sad to see you go!!’

As a dedicated enthusiast, I firmly believe that removing “JLP” from the lineup would be detrimental to the show’s success rather than attracting new viewers. Channel 10, it’s crucial for you to understand your audience better. If you genuinely think this change is beneficial, perhaps it’s time to reconsider and elevate your understanding of what resonates with us fans.
