Sam Thompson admits he has had an ‘uncomfortable’ year following his split from Zara McDermott as she moves on with Louis Tomlinson
Sam Thompson recently shared insights on the challenging phase he experienced after parting ways with Zara McDermott towards the end of last year, marking the conclusion of their five-year relationship.
The television host, aged 32, emphasized that occasionally tough times may serve as a surprising catalyst for an individual to implement long-overdue adjustments in their life.
After their separation, Zara started seeing the ex-member of One Direction, Louis Tomlinson, aged 33, who also became part of the Soccer Aid team in this current year along with Sam.
In an appearance on his good friend Pete Wicks’ podcast, Man Made, he openly discussed the last year since their separation and his personal growth.
In a special sneak peek provided to TopMob, he mentioned: “It’s quite unusual as I continue to seek assistance from others frequently.
When faced with a problem, I plan to reach out to you, Marvin, Tony, Ryan (my brother-in-law), and Louise. I will give them all a call when needed.
As a lifestyle guide, I often find myself relying heavily on others, and while their support is invaluable, I cannot help but feel an inner void – a sense that I haven’t yet reached the point where I can truly prioritize my own self-care.

Pete inquired: ‘Is it perceived that seeking assistance from others, or needing their support, diminishes a person’s masculinity?’
Sam clarified: ‘Asking for help, no. I think I lean a little bit too heavily into the depending.’
After the split, Sam has immersed himself in massive endeavors – such as his arduous UNICEF task, where he carried the Soccer Aid ball from Stamford Bridge to Old Trafford for five days, both on foot and by bicycle.
Pete inquired, “At what stage do you believe you’ll begin relying more on yourself? How can you tell when that moment comes?
Sam responded: “Wow, that’s an excellent query! To tell you the truth, following the UNICEF challenge, I believe I’ve been doing it more often.
Experiencing awkward or challenging situations, yet discovering your ability to manage them effectively.
This year has brought about an awkward predicament that I find myself in, and I believe it takes an uncomfortable year, rather than a good or bad one, to bring about personal transformation.
‘You need almost like a shock to put you into sort of like a new phase of your life.’

Sam managed to raise an incredible £1,516,433 for UNICEF during the five-day journey last month.
Regardless of enduring severe wounds, the Made In Chelsea celebrity persevered through intense discomfort to accomplish the 260-mile task.
Initially, on the first day itself, he wept before presenter Ben Shephard upon finishing his initial marathon run.
Reflecting on his emotions, Sam told Pete that he has always been an emotional person.
Pete asked: ‘In what way do you mean emotional?’
Sam shared: “I would shed many tears, as if I were deeply moved. It may seem embarrassing, but there was a time when I watched an Oxfam documentary and ended up in my mother’s room, shedding tears.
‘I mean, I just didn’t understand what’s going on. Like really feel things.
As I grew up, I found that society subtly discouraged expressing deep emotional empathy. Over time, it seemed as though a part of me had been suppressed, and it only resurfaced in specific instances.

In the challenge, I faced a tough moment right from the start. I tried to keep it together, telling myself not to cry on day one. I recall thinking, ‘Come on man, you can’t be that guy who cries on the first day.’ After completing my first marathon, despite injuring myself, I found myself sobbing into the physiotherapist’s arms, wondering what had gotten into me.
On the first day, I wasn’t familiar with Ben Shepard, but when he arrived, it turned out to be quite fortuitous. He’s a delightful individual, and in truth, I found myself in need of his companionship.
I expressed my confusion to Ben Shepard, saying something along the lines of ‘What in the world is happening?’ I can’t help but feel like there’s a lot of built-up emotions within me.
After Sam and Zara broke up in December, they had spent the holiday season apart.
According to a reliable insider, Sam and Zara have decided to end their romantic involvement some time ago. This choice was not easy for them, as they continue to hold deep affection towards one another despite the separation.
After a challenging year of nurturing their relationship, they’ve decided to part ways and concentrate on their personal career paths as the new year of 2025 approaches.
They haven’t encountered any scandals or disagreements; rather, this situation arises from a challenging year in which they’ve had to dedicate considerable effort to their individual undertakings.
In December, the pair were spotted enjoying Zara’s birthday celebration. During this time, Sam took to Instagram to publicly declare that Zara is both his soulmate and dearest friend.

Currently, Sam is in a relationship with the American holistic nutritionist, Steph Robinson, whereas Zara has found love with One Direction band member, Louis Tomlinson.
Two short weeks have passed since TopMob disclosed that my beloved Made In Chelsea heartthrob had parted ways with Samie Elishi, and now, I can hardly contain my excitement as I witness their budding romance unfold!
After his breakup with Samie, well-known podcaster Sam openly acknowledged the need for personal growth and stated clearly that he was taking a break from dating, expressing: “I plan on focusing on myself. No new relationships at this time, as I realize I’m not yet ready.
It’s been noticed that Sam and Steph have been spotted together in London, the city where the nutritionist is currently living. In June, Steph even posted on Instagram, “London, I’ll be spending more time with you soon,” which Sam liked.
A source told TopMob: ‘Sam and Steph have been on a date and are getting to know each other.
They met each other with the help of a common acquaintance and made it a priority to arrange an in-person meeting promptly since Steph doesn’t frequently reside in town.
Steph, who frequently journeys due to her role as a content creator, is now enjoying an extended stay in London, and it couldn’t be more timely.
Sam appears to be genuinely enjoying his bachelor lifestyle, socializing when not at work, and broadening his experiences.
Sam’s latest relationship focus has gained widespread popularity online, as she voices her opinions on wellness and diet. In a recent post, she cautioned followers about consuming oat milk, suggesting that there are alternative non-dairy beverages that may be more beneficial for one’s health.
Steph globe-trots, evaluating wellness resorts across various countries such as Austria and Mexico. She frequently posts food recipes intended to aid her followers in overcoming unhealthy dietary practices.
TopMob has contacted Sam’s spokesperson for comment.
