Ozzy Osbourne’s death was ‘unexpected’ – but he was blessed by having his children at his side in his final days: Friends tell KATIE HIND how Prince of Darkness passed away aged 76 surrounded by love at his Buckinghamshire mansion
The farewell event turned out to be what Ozzy Osbourne had anticipated earlier, although it came sooner than he and his family had planned.
Today, the renowned Black Sabbath band member passed away at the age of 76. He was surrounded by his spouse Sharon and their kids during his final moments, after a long struggle with Parkinson’s disease.
With a heavier heart than any words can express, we regretfully announce that our cherished Ozzy Osbourne has left us today. His loved ones were by his side, enveloping him in affection.
He was in the company of his loved ones, basking in affection. At present, we kindly request that everyone honors our family’s personal space during this sensitive period. The family members involved are Sharon, Jack, Kelly, Aimee, and Louis.
According to sources close to the family, they didn’t anticipate his death would occur so quickly, but they were incredibly thankful to spend time with him during his final days, as he had given his final performance approximately two weeks prior.
In simpler terms, the iconic heavy metal musician Ozzy Osbourne, often referred to as “The Prince of Darkness” by his devoted fans, passed away at his home in Buckinghamshire, where his wife Sharon (a former X Factor judge) had been preparing for his end-of-life care for about two years.
Additionally, it is disclosed that his daughters, Aimee (age 41) and Kelly (age 40), had visited him not long ago, even coming in from Los Angeles, to provide care as recent as the past week.
Additionally, Jack, aged 39, had journeyed from his Idaho residence to witness his cherished father perform at the final concert held at Aston Villa’s stadium, Villa Park, on July 5th.

Last night, a close relative mentioned that Ozzy had been intended to return to reside in Buckinghamshire, England, as that was where Sharon had meticulously prepared their family’s home for him over an extended period.
Initially, there was considerable optimism that he would continue with us for a significantly extended period. However, during a critical juncture, apprehensions surfaced about his ability to return from Los Angeles in time for the concert held earlier this month.
Over the past week or so, I’ve found myself spending more time indoors, much like my friend Aimee. It’s been a tough stretch for us both as we had deeply wished that our dear companion could continue with us for a little while longer.
‘But it’s so lovely that he had his children around him during his last days.’
Sir Elton John paid homage to an extraordinary pioneer, someone who solidified their spot among the legendary figures in rock music.
He posted on Instagram: ‘So sad to hear the news of Ozzy Osbourne passing away.
He was an extraordinary friend, a pioneer on a grand scale, and someone who etched his name among the celestial rock musicians – undeniably legendary.
Besides being incredibly hilarious, he was among the most amusing individuals I’ve encountered. His absence will be deeply felt. My heartfelt sympathies and affection go out to Sharon and the family during this difficult time.

Ronnie Wood expressed feeling quite sad, and it was noted by the Rolling Stone that he had a heartwarming farewell concert at Back To The Beginning in Birmingham.
As a devoted fan, I took to my social platform of choice to share an old photograph of me and the legendary Ozzy Osbourne, alongside a heartfelt message symbolized by a broken heart emoji, in tribute to the metal icon, Metallica’s addition to the tributes.
In his own words, Sir Rod Stewart, famously known for “Maggie May,” expressed a heartfelt farewell to Ozzy. His statement read: “Goodbye, Ozzy. Rest peacefully, my friend. I’ll catch up with you – it will be ‘later rather than sooner.’ Sincerely, Sir Rod Stewart.
As a devoted admirer, I’ve been sharing in Ozzy’s journey as he collaborates with a ghostwriter on his memoir titled “Last Rites”. It’s my heartfelt hope that this book sees the light of day while he’s still here to witness its publication.
Since purchasing their home in Buckinghamshire back in 1993, Mrs. Osbourne, aged 72, had been making preparations for Ozzy to spend his last days there.
In 2023, plans were approved for renovations on the historic Grade II-listed home. These updates will feature a large addition, referred to as a rehab wing, which includes a health and fitness studio, an art studio, a pool house that doubles as an orangery with a spa, wet room, changing area – all tailored for Ozzy’s health and wellness.
Against expectations that it might be challenging, Ozzy was transported from California, where he, his wife Sharon, and their three kids had resided for thirty years.
In spite of battling his health issues, the musician managed to deliver a heartfelt goodbye to his audience onstage recently, when he joined forces once more with his original Black Sabbath bandmates Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Bill Ward for the first time since 2005.

In his farewell address, Ozzy conveyed that he couldn’t express his feelings adequately, but he was deeply grateful from the very core of his being.
The lineup for the support acts boasted some of the greatest names in heavy metal, featuring icons such as Metallica, Pantera, Alice in Chains, plus Aerosmith’s lead vocalist Steven Tyler.
Ozzy Osbourne is survived by grandchildren including Sidney, son of Kelly and Sid Wilson, as well as Pearl Clementine, Andy Rose, Minnie Theodora, and Maple Artemis – daughters of Jack and his former spouse Lisa Stelly, and Aree Gearhart respectively.
He also has two children, Louis and Jessica, with his first wife, Thelma Riley.
