Clint Eastwood, 95, had ‘long periods of being unfaithful’ and saw marriage as ‘confinement’, tell-all claims

As a die-hard admirer, I can’t help but share this intriguing tidbit about the legendary Clint Eastwood: it appears that he wasn’t exactly a staunch advocate for monogamy. A recently published biography alleges that he saw marriage as more of a restrictive institution, a form of confinement – quite an interesting perspective from such an iconic figure!

The information originates from author Shawn Levy, who delves into the life of both the actor and director, as presented in his latest work titled “Clint: The Life and Cinema”.

Delving into conversations, introspections, and years of personal and professional wisdom, this biography offers a comprehensive exploration of Clint Eastwood’s illustrious cinematic journey, intricate love relationships, and the intricacies of his private life.

Ever since his ascent to fame in the early 1960s, Eastwood’s personal life has consistently made tabloid headlines. This includes a troubled first marriage due to infidelity, romantic entanglements on set, a high-profile relationship with a woman nearly three decades younger, and rumors of fathering eight children.

The book mentions that Eastwood’s friends understood he viewed marriage as a restriction, and he had no qualms about pursuing other women.

Representatives for Eastwood have been contacted for comment.

In a recent interview with Fox, Levy shared his thoughts on the star’s perspective, stating, “He values the concept of marriage to some extent, but his own freedom seems to hold an equally significant or even greater importance for him.

Regardless of the situation, he consistently showed respect towards his partners, yet he never failed to pursue his desires and impulses.

In hindsight, Levy explained, it seemed more like a desire or craving. It was an activity he enjoyed, a thing he found satisfaction in doing.

‘He did it before he was famous. He did it after he became famous.

In certain stretches of time, I’d find myself admiring him for being steadfast and loyal within a relationship. Yet, there were other phases where he seemed single or found himself entangled in the complexities of infidelity with his primary love interest.

Levy determined that his subject didn’t adhere to conventional faithfulness. He perceived monogamy as restrictive, much like being a studio-bound actor was for him.

Even Clint seemed to acknowledge his wandering ways.

During a 1963 Photoplay interview, he discussed his initial marriage with Maggie Johnson. He stated, ‘Maggie needed to understand that I would always do what I wanted. She had to accept this reality, as otherwise, our marriage wouldn’t have lasted.’

In 1978, the married pair parted ways, and it wasn’t until 1984 that their divorce was officially concluded, marking the end of a union that had started back in 1954.

In time, I found myself sharing more of my story with the author of my biography, Richard Schickel, as detailed in his 1997 publication, “Clint Eastwood: A Life in Full.

He admitted that his involvement in these affairs had developed into something compulsive, almost as if he needed to continue, much like needing another cigarette.

The strong, irresistible attraction played out in his romantic entanglements, which had roots stretching far back even before he gained widespread fame.

He met Maggie on a blind date in 1953, shortly after being discharged from the military.

Six months after their union, the couple stayed together for over two decades, despite John’s growing fame leading to a succession of romantic entanglements.

During his relationship with Johnson, it is said that he unknowingly became a father to a girl named Laurie, through another woman.

In the course of his wedding, Eastwood engaged in a 14-year relationship with stuntwoman Roxanne Tunis, and they had a child named Kimber together in 1964.

Later on, he entered into a widely recognized 13-year romantic partnership with actress Sondra Locke, who starred alongside him in The Outlaw Josey Wales.

The dispute was riddled with conflict, culminating in a harsh legal battle when Locke claimed he suffered emotional mistreatment and professional setbacks.

She also claimed he pressured her into multiple abortions during their time together.

Amidst his existing relationship, Eastwood secretly became a father to two more kids – Scott and Kathryn – through his partner, Jacelyn Reeves, who was a flight attendant.

In the early ’90s, he was in a romantic relationship with actress Frances Fisher and together they had a daughter named Francesca.

The relationship terminated when Eastwood was captured in a kiss with TV journalist Dina Ruiz, who he later married in 1996.

Together with Ruiz, Eastwood also had the pleasure of raising his youngest child, Morgan, who seemed to have brought a sense of tranquility and permanence in his life for many years.

However, during the 2010s, their marriage started falling apart. Ruiz pointed to emotional detachment as a reason, along with the discovery that Eastwood was in a relationship – with Erica Tomlinson-Fisher, a former wife of one of her friends.

Eastwood and Ruiz officially divorced in 2014.

Not long after, Eastwood encountered Christina Sandera, a hotel hostess, at his hotel in Carmel, known as the Mission Ranch.

Regardless of a difference in age by 33 years, they managed to maintain their relationship for a full decade, which stood as one of his longest and most enduring romantic endeavors.

Tragically, Sandera passed away in July 2024 at the age of 61.

Altogether, it’s widely speculated that Eastwood has fathered at least eight children with six distinct individuals. However, he has not openly acknowledged the exact number in public.
