The humiliating reason Christina Haack’s HGTV show has been canceled… after THOSE vacation groping photos
The home improvement show starring Christina Haack, titled “Christina on the Coast,” has been cancelled by HGTV, following the release of affectionate photographs of her and her partner about three months ago.
As a devoted follower, I’m sharing a piece of news that occurred back in April during our getaway to a resort in Cabo, Mexico. Unfortunately, my 42-year-old reality star partner, Christopher Larocca, found himself in an uncomfortable situation. Photos obtained exclusively by the Daily Mail suggest he inappropriately touched my chest and was overly familiar with me, which is certainly not the behavior I expect or appreciate.
Despite appearing unexpected, HGTV’s choice to discontinue the show after five seasons might not be so shocking, as suggested by a source who shared insights with The Daily Mail about the termination. This decision seems to be part of the network’s recent trend of canceling shows aggressively.
Based on the information, the primary explanation for her show being cancelled was that it didn’t generate sufficient revenue to cover her substantial salary of six figures.
The insider revealed to the Daily Mail that Haack was earning ‘roughly $110,000 per episode.’
According to the source, Christina was earning an excessive salary, and since HGTV needed to reduce expenses, they found it difficult to continue compensating one of their most prominent figures at that rate. As a result, they made the decision to terminate her show.

Additionally, the source mentioned that a similar thought process was applied when deciding to cancel Tarek El Moussa’s show, “Flipping El Moussas.” This was due to the fact that he was also considered to be significantly overpaid and earned approximately the same amount per episode as Haack.
In March 2023, the television show titled “The Flip Side with Heather El Moussa,” starring Heather El Moussa, her husband, debuted. This year, in March, they concluded their second season.
According to another source, The Daily Mail reported that HGTV was considering reducing costs by focusing on high-earning personalities within the network. With El Moussa and Haack earning relatively low six-figure salaries per episode and their shows being expensive to produce, this combination apparently led to their termination.
The source explained that although the decision ultimately boiled down to financial considerations, HGTV also chose to discontinue production because their spinoff shows were increasingly centered around drama rather than home renovation.
As a lifestyle aficionado, I’d put it this way: “I believe in the power of transformative home renovations, not sensational drama. Unfortunately, some of my recent productions veered off course, losing focus on the essence of home improvement. Recognizing that change was necessary, I decided to halt these shows and refocus their direction.
‘It’s no secret that HGTV is trying to remain profitable, and their shows just weren’t profitable.’
It was mentioned in the initial reference that it’s advantageous for HGTV stars Christina and Tarek to collaborate on The Flip Off because they have a higher market value when working together as a team.
According to the source, the network was fond of the concept of “The Flip Off” right away and felt it would be the way forward for Christina and Tarek.
Following the highly appreciated ratings and fan enthusiasm about their reunion, it seems that the former couple will continue their journey in the world of HGTV, as the network anticipates their continued success under ‘The Flip Off’.
Season 2 of The Flip Off has not yet been announced, but the Daily Mail learned it is in the works.
‘Production has not yet begun, but it’s 95 percent a done deal,’ the first source said.
Simultaneously, another source mentioned that the television network is keen on maintaining this pair on-screen, but only if it’s the perfect fit for a project.

In January 2018, the divorce between Haack and El Moussa was officially concluded. This came about a year after El Moussa first filed for divorce. During their eight-year marriage, they were blessed with two children: Taylor, who is now 14 years old, and Brayden, aged 9.
The source added, ‘Currently, the network hopes that The Flip Off [Season 2] will continue to thrive, and while it’s not ruled out that Christina and Tarek may return with more spinoffs in the future, for now, things are uncertain.’
HGTV, Haack and El Moussa have not responded to the Daily Mail’s request for comment.
Haack has experienced cancellations before. Previously, it was announced that her series “Christina in the Country” wouldn’t be coming back for a third season this year itself.

On Sunday, Haack took to her Instagram to break silence on the most recent cancellation.
In her post, she published a set of photos that showcased numerous moments spent with Larocca, as well as her three kids. Notably, Hudson, aged 5, is the son she co-parents with her second spouse, Ant Anstead.
My summer has been all about food, fun, and laughter. I guess canceling plans suits me just fine… Just joking, of course!
According to our initial source, Haack wasn’t entirely caught off guard by the news, as she had a sense that something like this might happen.
According to the source, she’s talking about her divorce and making headlines because she wants to remain significant and demonstrate to the network that her followers are equally intrigued by her personal experiences, as well as her professional accomplishments.
‘Her career was in trouble and it’s not something she was blindsided by.’
In July 2024, Josh Hall, Haack’s third spouse, initiated divorce proceedings. By around early May, they had reached an agreement on the terms of their separation.

On May 2nd, Haack’s representative made it clear to People magazine that Christina is content with the agreement they’ve reached in mediation. She expresses heartfelt gratitude towards her lawyer, Laura Wasser, and her team, for their expert advice and backing during this whole process.
The specifics regarding the division of assets and alimony have not been disclosed as the unresolved aspects of their ‘uncontested divorce’ are still pending a final decision from the court.
According to a document acquired by the Daily Mail dated July 17, it appears that Haack has not yet disclosed her preferred legal name in full.
Recently, HGTV has been undergoing significant changes, with shows like Christina on the Coast, The Flipping El Moussas, Bargain Block, Married to Real Estate, Farmhouse Fixer, Izzy Does It, and Battle on the Beach being canceled. This is part of a series of cancellations at the network.
Unexpected cancellations appear to have stirred up a commotion among the channel’s fanbase, causing concern among staff members from various series over potential job losses.
A source close to the programming team recently informed the Daily Mail that ongoing deliberations are taking place regarding the decisions.
‘Things aren’t great for anyone in the TV industry right now, but it’s something we all understand. Cable networks are facing tough times, so we need to be wise with our choices.’
