A new Wonder Man video sees Yahya Abdul-Mateen II do an interview in character as Simon Williams.

The upcoming Marvel Television miniseries titled “Wonder Man” is being developed by Destin Daniel Cretton and Andrew Guest. This series, scheduled to premiere on Disney+ later in the year, features Abdul-Mateen II as the lead character, with Ben Kingsley returning to portray Trevor Slattery.

What happens in the Wonder Man video?

At the premiere of The Fantastic Four: First Steps, Marvel Studios posted a video featuring Abdul-Mateen II discussing his background with the Wonder Man character, as he is set to portray Simon Williams in it.

He shared in the video that he’d been a passionate admirer of Wonder Man and comics in general since childhood. The first movie he ever watched in a cinema was with his father, and seeing it sparked an ambition within him to become a superhero. Now, as he reflects on this experience, it feels like a full-circle moment for him – a wonderful and incredible journey.

Later on, the interviewer inquires, “It’s been mentioned that you have a close relationship with Trevor Slattery, who is often associated with controversy. Could you share some insights about this connection?” But before he could respond, his PR representative politely guides him away.

In the series “Wonder Man,” the character Simon initially applies for the role of the leading superhero in a fresh television production, as reported by TechRadar. Unbeknownst to him, however, he is actually a person with real superpowers.

The role of Trevor Slattery, initially introduced in Iron Man 3 in 2013 as a fictional actor hired to portray the Mandarin, is yet to fully unfold within the storyline. However, hints from the show’s previews seem to imply that Kingsley’s character offers some acting guidance to Simon.

Marvel’s Wonder Man will premiere on Disney+ this coming December.
