Scott Mills reveals Prince William and Kate Middleton made secret trip to Radio 1’s Big Weekend festival: ‘We had no idea’
Scott Mills disclosed that Prince William and Kate Middleton stealthily visited the Big Weekend of BBC Radio 1 back in 2010.
This year’s festival in Bangor, North Wales, saw the attendance of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. They came to enjoy sets by artists such as Rihanna, Paramore, and Kesha.
In an interview with Heat magazine, Scott recounted, “Years back at Radio 1’s Big Weekend in Barrego, North Wales, they unexpectedly showed up. The higher-ups were aware, but the rest of us were clueless due to necessary security measures.
They discreetly observed Rihanna from the sidelines during her performance. It’s cool that they took an active interest in the event.
In previous instances, Scott has conversed with William and Kate. During that time, they graced his BBC Radio 1 program in 2017 to discuss the topic of mental health.

At the given moment, it was disclosed that William was a devoted fan of Radio 1, but later on, he decided to tune into Radio 2 instead.
Scott mentioned that he often received texts from this person, implying they were usually present, but not physically attending, as expressed by his phrase “not going.” However, he would engage in conversations via Text-in service provided by Radio 1’s regular phone number.
After Scott announced his newfound financial stability, it seems as though he has achieved his goal by securing the position on BBC Radio 2 with Zoe Ball.
The DJ, 51, took over hosting the highly esteemed breakfast show on from Zoe, 54, in January.
In a conversation with The Telegraph, Scott opened up about his career journey, sharing that he has mastered the art of saying “no” to work opportunities, a skill he developed after numerous years of sacrificing sleep for different engagements.
He said: ‘I still feel insecurity a little bit.
In addition, I believe that’s the case because my profession involves working in an environment where jobs aren’t considered permanent. Contracts may expire, radio stations might be acquired, leading them to conclude “we don’t have much use for you”. Many acquaintances of mine have experienced this situation.
During my twenties, thirties, and forties, I would seize any job opportunities presented to me, occasionally jeopardizing my health in the process.

‘I was working way too much, because my mindset was that you don’t know when it might end.’
Scott went on to say: “During one freshers’ week, I had a schedule set for performances at student unions as follows: On Monday, it was Aberdeen; on Tuesday, Glasgow; and on Wednesday, Edinburgh.
The plan is for me to perform in London, then travel to Scotland for a late-night performance, get only a few hours of sleep before returning, and perform again in London, with this cycle repeating.” This version maintains the original meaning while using more conversational language and simplifying some technical terms like ‘gig’ and ‘show’.
For the past two decades, I seized every chance that came my way, but truthfully, I no longer feel the desire to do so anymore. I derived pleasure from those experiences, but life has taken on a new dimension now.
After spending three decades in his career, Scott feels he has truly achieved success following his promotion by the BBC executives in January.
He said: ‘For the first time, I really do believe in myself.
In other words, if they’ve featured you on the morning show, it means you’re probably doing something correctly.

Initially, it had been mentioned that Scott received a modest salary increase for hosting the program, amounting to roughly £450,000 annually. However, this figure pales in comparison to Zoe’s earnings of £950,000.
The dramatic pay difference comes as BBC bosses are under ‘enormous pressure’ to cut back on costs.
Scott justified his earnings, explaining that he’d been strategically positioning himself throughout his life to eventually attain such a high position.
Zoe stepped away from the morning talk show to prioritize her family, and she openly confessed that she won’t miss the early 4 am alarm clocks associated with hosting the primary broadcast segment.
As an ardent admirer, I find myself expressing this sentiment: “I’ve made up my mind that it’s high time for me to bid farewell to those early wake-up calls and embark on a fresh journey.
We’ve experienced countless memorable moments together, both the joyous and challenging ones, filled with much humor. I will deeply miss our time spent together.
The mum-of-one added: ‘But I won’t miss the 4am alarm call, if I’m completely honest.’
