Rod Stewart, 80, wears a quirky satin blazer as he joins his leggy wife Penny Lancaster, 54, in New York City

He’s well known for his flamboyant sense of style.

On Monday, Rod Stewart didn’t deviate from the norm as he strolled around New York City alongside his tall spouse, Penny Lancaster.

The elderly man in the rocking chair was adorned in a unique, satiny jacket, worn over a white undershirt, and extra-large striped pants that seemed out of proportion.

Rod finished off his ensemble with a pair of white slip-ons, and added a touch of elegance with a multi-layered pearl pendant necklace.

Exiting The Peninsula hotel, he strolled side by side with Penny, who was radiantly dressed in a mini dress featuring polka dots.

In my personal style, I paired the piece with sleek pee-toe high heels and completed the ensemble by carrying a petite black clutch purse, adding that final touch of sophistication.

Rod’s emergence followed a heartfelt revelation where he spoke honestly about the emotional turmoil caused by his divorce from ex-wife Rachel Hunter, which left him deeply scarred.

For nearly a decade, the rock musician was involved with a 55-year-old New Zealand model. They had two children during this time – their daughter, Renee, who is now 33 years old, and their son, Liam, aged 30.

In a Los Angeles nightclub, the two individuals, separated by a span of 24 years, first crossed paths. This encounter happened when Rachel, then 21 years of age, met Rod. Later on, Rod disclosed that his sister Mary had expressed concerns about Rachel being perceived as ‘too young’ in their marriage.

Pondering over the dissolution of his marriage, Rod acknowledged that the significant age difference between them ultimately led to their separation, a factor he described as causing him intense pain at the time.

As a die-hard admirer, I’d put it this way: “I confided in The Times, expressing that my ex-wife, Rachel, felt too young for the commitment. My sister had warned me against our union from the start, but the separation left me heartbroken and devastated.

Six months following his separation from Rachel, Rod encountered his current spouse, Penny Lancaster. He mentioned that the delay in meeting her was merely due to a friend’s reluctance to provide her phone number.

When inquired about his preference for being single initially, he humorously replied: “Absolutely! It took six months for me to get Penny’s number because my bandmate, who had her number, refused to share it with me.

He asserted, “You’re just going to be carefree from now on,” and indeed, that’s exactly what happened. Those six months were simply delightful for me.

Rod enthusiastically spoke about his wife Penny, age 54, and shared that she possesses all he desires, while admitting that he’s never been happier than at this moment.

In his 2012 autobiography, the author who composed the popular song “Maggie May,” recounted his first encounter with his former wife Rachel at the Roxbury Club in Los Angeles. He described her as a ‘divinity’ or ‘goddess.’

In the book, he mentioned that there was an immediate bond between them. She was exceptionally attractive, yet she had a straightforward and practical demeanor too.

‘It was there in her New Zealand accent, but also in her face, which was open and smart.

She was nothing like the typical perception of a flighty model; instead, she had both wealth and recognition under her belt even beforehand.

I felt a sense of ease. There was always a lingering doubt about her feelings towards me: is it truly me she likes, or merely the things around me?

On the following day, he delivered two dozen crimson roses to her modeling office, and a romance blossomed swiftly between them. They got married merely three months after, on December 1990.

Yet, in January 1999, after eight years of marriage, Rachel ended their relationship, leaving him heartbroken. They didn’t officially divorce until 2006, which was seven years later.

After parting ways for several months, Rod once more immersed himself in the single lifestyle, going out on dates with models such as Caprice Bourret. However, their relationship did not endure.

Later on, Rod encountered Penny, who happened to be 28 years old. They soon started a relationship, a situation that Rod had confessed was challenging for his family during that period.

Rod mentioned that at first, his siblings – Mary, Don, and Bob – expressed caution due to their past apprehension about his separation with Rachel, while Penny’s brother, Oliver, had reservations about her romantic involvement with a musician.

Initially strained, their bond flourished instead, culminating in their wedding on June 2007, following the conclusion of his divorce with Rachel.

Or simply: Despite initial difficulties, their relationship improved significantly and they got married in June 2007 after he finalized his divorce from Rachel.

Rod and Penny have two sons, Alastair (age 19) and Aiden (age 14), and they currently enjoy a harmonious relationship with Rod’s former spouse, Rachel.

Or:

Rod and Penny are parents to two boys – Alastair who is 19 years old, and Aiden, who is 14. They have managed to establish a positive connection with Rod’s ex-wife, Rachel.

Back in 2017, Penny shared with the Loose Women that she and Rachel have become quite close friends, despite a rough start between them.

Over time, Rachel and I have grown closer and found many shared experiences. Nowadays, we often find ourselves sitting down for lengthy chats, having put our past differences behind us.

‘Growing up means taking responsibility as adults… And for me, getting involved with someone like Rod wasn’t just about him – it was also about building a connection with his entire family.’

‘I saw how all his children were getting on and I wanted my future children to do that as well.’

In many group photos at big family events, Penny and Rachel frequently appear with cheerful expressions on their faces.

According to Rod, he has a good rapport with both Rachel and Penny now, and they seem to get along quite well. He shared this insight with the Daily Express.

‘In fact all the exes get on so I think I must have done something right.’

The individual in question is a father to eight kids, conceived with five distinct women. He’s been down the aisle three times, among which were his unions with Penny and Rachel.

At the age of 18, Rod met his eldest child, Sarah Streeter (who is also the daughter of his former girlfriend Susannah Boffey). However, due to unforeseen circumstances, they chose to place her up for adoption.

In her current age of 61, Sarah was brought up by her adoptive family, and it wasn’t until after the passing of her adoptive mother in 2007 that she reestablished contact with Rod.

Later, he welcomed two kids into his family, a daughter named Kimberly, aged 45, and a son named Sean, who is also 44 years old. These children were born to him and his former spouse, Alana Stewart.

In the past, the star had a daughter named Ruby, aged 37, with his ex-partner Kelly Emberg, prior to marrying his second spouse, Rachel. Rachel later gave birth to both Renee and Liam.

Rod then welcomed his youngest two children – Alastair and Aiden – with Penny.

Last week, the youngest two sons demonstrated their backing for their dad by joining him at the Glastonbury Festival to catch his main performance.

On Sundays when he assumed the role as the Legend, Rod posted pictures on Instagram showing his sons, who were cheering him on from the audience.

During the performance, Aidan perched up on his older brother Alistair’s shoulders. Meanwhile, Alistair sported a jersey from Aidan’s father’s favorite Boston Celtics soccer team, draped casually around his neck.
