Anne Hathaway’s quirky wardrobe on Devil Wears Prada 2 set in NYC hints at major plot twist
During the filming of The Devil Wears Prada 2 in New York City on Monday, Anne Hathaway showcased a variety of stylish and unconventional outfits.
In May, the actress, who’s now 42 years old, will once again take on the character of Andrea ‘Andy’ Sachs in the upcoming sequel to the popular 2006 film.
One striking ensemble might have hinted at the storyline of the upcoming sequel for some observant fans.
The attractive brunette was captured wearing a vibrant mosaic-patterned maxi dress, complemented by large, earthy brown platform sandals.
Instead, the garment bag connected to her suitcase appeared to subtly suggest where the character Andy might be heading in the next movie.
Despite Andy parting ways with Runway magazine at the conclusion of the initial film, where it’s portrayed by Miranda Priestly (played by Meryl Streep), recent pictures show her carrying a tote bag adorned with the magazine’s name, hinting that she might have resumed her position there.

Her look was paired with a light bucket hat, two chunky necklaces and a pair of sunglasses.
Her long brunette tresses cascaded from underneath the hat in loose waves.
In addition to carrying a garment bag, she was also seen strolling with a blue suitcase and another smaller, mesh-style bag.
Anne also shared a video of her in the dress to her Instagram.
Later she was seen wearing a denim zip-up jumpsuit with colorful patches.
The outfit was paired with black open-toe Chanel sandals and a black leather Valentino purse.
Another outfit saw her in a white tank top with a black vest and a long denim skirt.
The day prior the star was seen filming dressed in a pinstripe vest and pants.
In its initial release, the movie unveiled the ruthless nature of the high-end fashion industry, and twenty years later, it’s safe to say that this world has evolved significantly, particularly for Miranda, the demanding editor-in-chief of Runway, portrayed once more by Meryl.

The film should unveil her destiny, depicting her formidable persona grappling with the dwindling print media sector.
As a lifestyle aficionado, I often ponder if she has maintained her frosty disposition. In a particular moment within the initial movie, Andy lets out a giggle during a high-end fashion conference led by Priestly, who then responds with a rather pointed critique of her ‘sky blue’ sweater.
‘You think this has nothing to do with you,’ Priestly tells her.
You head towards your wardrobe and pick out a rather bulky, blue sweater, perhaps to convey an air of being too sophisticated to worry about fashion choices. However, what you might not realize is that the sweater’s color isn’t just blue; it’s not turquoise or lapis either, it’s actually cerulean.
In a memorable turn of events, this particular setting gave rise to the ‘cerulean blue’ notion, suggesting that high-fashion trends eventually filter into everyday style.
Anne referenced the previous day’s setting by posting an online video yesterday, wearing a comparable sweater and using the caption ‘Off to work’, accompanied by the hashtag #dwp2.
In the latest video, Anne appears rushing through her preparations, noticeably using an electric toothbrush – a contemporary update to the manual toothbrush Andy used during his iconic job interview in the original movie.
But it was her outfit that truly sent her followers spiralling.
In a flash, my recent video clip took the internet by storm, sparking lively discussions among viewers who found themselves drawn to Miranda’s passionate response to Andy’s perceived disregard for fashion.
One gushed: ‘SHE’S WEARING THAT CERULEAN BLUE!!!!’
Another confessed they felt ‘like a kid waiting for Christmas for Devil Wears Prada SEQUEL!!!!’

Recently, a hint from Hathaway indicates that she’s ready for the trendy sequel of the movie, which was recently confirmed to be in production. Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci are all expected to return to their original roles in The Devil Wears Prada 2.
In addition to the original cast, we’ll see some fresh faces in the next installment: Lucy Liu, Justin Theroux, B.J. Novak, and Pauline Chalamet.
In the following story, Emily Charlton, played by Blunt, has risen through the ranks in her career and now wields the influence that Miranda requires. This positions both characters for an enticing confrontation involving ambition, allegiance, and the politics of high fashion.
Without revealing specific plot points, rumors hint that the movie could be influenced by Lauren Weisberger’s 2013 novel, “Revenge Wears Prada.” In this story, the character Andy experiences life after Runway, taking up a role as an editor, where she unexpectedly encounters Miranda once more.
The sequel to “The Devil Wears Prada,” titled “The Devil Wears Prada 2,” is set to premiere in cinemas on May 1, 2026, which will be exactly twenty years after the first movie made its mark on pop culture lore.
