Audiences have been treated to a first look at Sydney Sweeney in the upcoming biopic Christy.
In the movie, the actor from “Anyone But You” takes on the role of real-life American boxing champ Christy Martin, often referred to as the “female equivalent of Rocky” by the film’s production team.
For the character he plays in Euphoria, Sweeney significantly altered her physique after a rigorous training program, mirroring Martin’s muscular structure. In a recent photo, the star of Euphoria looks almost unrecognizable, having traded her iconic blonde hair for a short, dark style reminiscent of Martin’s.
As a gamer, I can’t contain my excitement! I’m proud to announce that my film is set to make its world debut at the prestigious Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF)! To give you a sneak peek,
Sweeney is known as Martin in the boxing world, having had a career that included winning the World Boxing Council’s Super Welterweight Championship and being inducted into the Nevada Boxing Hall of Fame.

Previously, the actor praised Martin as a genuine warrior, engaging in fights not just within the arena but also beyond it.
In her Instagram post, she expressed that her journey symbolizes endurance, fortitude, and optimism, and she feels privileged to follow in her footsteps and pass on her inspiring tale to you all.
Martin’s boxing career in the professional arena lasted for approximately twenty years, culminating in her winning the world championship title in the super welterweight division in the year 2009.

One year following their triumph, James Martin, her spouse, attacked her with a knife and gun at their residence in Florida. Miraculously, she lived through the assault, and in 2012, he was given a 25-year prison sentence for the conviction of an attempted second-degree murder attempt.
As per IMDB, the actors from Severance and Unbelievable, specifically Merritt Wever, can also be seen in Christy, alongside Katy O’Brian from Love Lies Bleeding.
The movie was penned by Mirrah Foulkes and David Michod, who had earlier teamed up for the successful Australian production, “Animal Kingdom”.
Christy will premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in September.
