The City Safari returns to Pokémon GO in September 2025.
Niantic has shared that the Pokémon GO City Safari event is making a comeback in September, and they’ve unveiled five fresh events to look forward to. The City Safari was previously held back in March, where trainers from around the globe embarked on a quest to capture Explorer Hat Eevee and a recently debuted Pokémon, Mudbray.
The trainers will have another opportunity to catch both of those specific Pokémon due to the recent announcement of new events. Notably, Mudbray, which remains exclusive to City Safari events, is a major incentive encouraging trainers to embark on an exciting adventure over the weekend.
Where are the next Pokémon GO City Safari events?
Once again, City Safari events are taking place globally. Notably, Europe has a double treat this time around, hosting two concurrent events. Additionally, there’s an event in Canada, another in Mexico, and lastly, one in Thailand.
- Amsterdam, Netherlands
- Bangkok, Thailand
- Cancún, Mexico
- Valencia, Spain
- Vancouver, Canada
As a dedicated gamer, I’ve been eagerly waiting for the chance to participate in a Pokémon event down under in Australia. Although that specific request hasn’t been fulfilled yet, I’m pleased to say there’s a decent selection of events across the land. So, if I’ve got the means and spirit, I can find an exciting Pokémon gathering within reach, making it a road trip worth taking!

What should I expect at a City Safari event?
City Safari events differ significantly from events such as GO Fest, GO Wild, and GO Tour. Unlike them, City Safari events do not feature the introduction of extraordinary Legendary or Mythical creatures, instead providing a more laid-back atmosphere. The main focus here is on the adventure of exploration and catching Pokémon, rather than intense debuts.
Trainers need to seek out unique PokéStops for chances to meet Eevee in costumes, and they can chase after rare, glittering Pokémon known as shinies. The probability of encountering a shiny is increased significantly during City Safari events to approximately 1/64. This means that trainers can catch many shinies over the weekend. Among these, Mudbray is particularly sought-after, while Unown also appears frequently at this event.

During this event, while there may be an available Raid Lover add-on, it doesn’t typically feature special Raid encounters. Whatever Pokemon is currently rotating will be the focus of the event. If you happen to come across a good one, that’s terrific! However, if you’re not particularly interested in catching them, remember that the main objective of this event is all about catching Pokemon.
The ticket prices are quite affordable, and the events are incredibly fun. I’d highly recommend attending if you can.
