Gen.G wins the EWC 2025
As a proud member of Gen.G, we set foot in the Esports World Cup with a singular focus: to emerge victorious against all competitors. With our recent triumph over T1 at MSI 2025 still fresh in our minds, we were driven to add another illustrious trophy to our collection.
In the championship match, they battled Anyone’s Legends, an impressively strong Chinese team that shone throughout MSI. Although the series was intense and tightly fought, Gen.G came out on top with a 3-2 victory, adding another trophy to South Korea’s collection. Gen.G vs Anyone’s Legends at the EWC 2025: Match recaps
Match 1
Following their choice of a captivating composition packed with key players, Gen.G took command early by controlling objectives and winning crucial mid-game skirmishes. A powerful push, fueled by securing Baron, ended the game approximately at the 30-minute mark. Despite stealing one objective and the Baron, Anyone’s Legends couldn’t reverse the outcome of the match.

Match 2
In the second game, Anyone’s Legends had a noticeably poorer performance compared to Game 1. The pattern mirrored that of the first game: Gen.G showcased impressive coordination in rotations, top-notch strategic decision making, and effective management of map control. They swiftly concluded the match within 28 minutes, boasting a significant advantage in gold. Each member of their team excelled in their individual lanes, while Gen.G maintained a firm grasp on every objective.

Match 3
If Legends of Anyone were facing difficulties due to consecutive defeats, they were resolute about changing their fortunes independently. They picked up speed during initial clashes, seized Baron and Dragon, and forced their way into Gen.G’s base following an intense battle at the Dragon pit. In less than thirty minutes, it appeared as though this match signaled the start of a comeback (or so they hoped).

Match 4
In a hard-fought, 46-minute battle royale, Anyone’s Legend quickly took the lead and held onto it until the end, securing victory through a crucial jungle skirmish that leveled the series. The team that erred first suffered defeat, with Gen.G ultimately coming up short. Both Shanks and Hope displayed incredible resilience throughout the game. Nevertheless, Anyone’s Legend’s superior teamwork and strategy proved decisive in securing the win.

Match 5
The fifth game saw a one-sided victory for Gen.G, who took control of the map from the start and consistently outplayed AL in key team battles. This left AL unable to set the pace, and within thirty minutes, it was all over. In the 2025 edition of the League of Legends Esports World Cup, Gen.G emerged victorious with a score of 3-2.
