Billie Piper says making Doctor Who now would feel “completely different” to 20 years ago
Billie Piper, known for her role as Doctor Who, has shared insights on what makes the show distinct from 20 years ago.
As a dedicated Whovian, I recall the exciting introduction of Billie Piper into the vast expanse of the Whoniverse way back in 2005. She graced our screens as Rose Tyler, a remarkable companion to Christopher Eccleston’s incarnation of the Ninth Doctor. Regrettably, Eccleston departed after just one season, but fortunately for us, Piper continued her journey through time and space for another year.
The pair is set to come back together for an upcoming audio series titled “The Ninth Doctor Adventures, ” but as Piper has disclosed, this project will deviate from their previous collaborative work.
What to Read Next
If we were to produce a “Doctor Who” series today that mirrored the one from 20 years ago, it might seem inauthentic or out of touch. The world has changed dramatically since then, and our perspectives have broadened significantly due to the experiences, sights, and knowledge we’ve gained since.
Indeed, we seemed significantly more optimistic back then. The content people encounter on social media has had a deep impact, and it’s become so commonplace that many have grown noticeably somber.
She stated: “We indeed possess the ability to feel joy, and I firmly believe that, yet overlooking our current situation transforms the entire experience into something entirely different.
The Twelfth Tale Series of the Ninth Doctor will present a dozen fresh narratives starring both the Doctor and Rose, all unfolding during the timeframe of their initial shared season.
The audio story begins by introducing ‘Snare’, and it centers around Kevin, a previous neighbor from the Powell Estate, who comes back to clean out his father’s old apartment. However, when Kevin meets Rose’s new acquaintance, known as the Doctor, he finds himself drawn into a mysterious supernatural endeavor.
In the meantime, it’s possible that we haven’t seen or heard the last of Piper from “The Ninth Doctor Adventures,” as she unexpectedly appeared on screen in the latest episode of “Doctor Who.
After the surprising regeneration event, Ncuti Gatwa’s 15th Doctor appeared to be succeeded by Piper, although we’ll have to wait and see if she’ll assume the role of the future Time Lord.
