Olympic swimmer Cate Campbell announces surprise engagement to partner Adam Kerr and shows off her massive diamond ring

Cate Campbell has announced her engagement. 

On a recent Instagram post, the accomplished Olympic swimmer along with her devoted partner Adam Kerr joyfully announced some wonderful news.

In a charming post, the 33-year-old woman displayed an enchanting sequence of photos capturing her surprise proposal at sunrise, accompanied by close-ups of her elegant and shimmering diamond ring as well.

Cate expressed amazement and delight with these pictures,” she captioned her photo collection.

On last Saturday morning, as we were admiring the sunrise at our latest coastal spot, Adam unexpectedly turned to me and posed: “Cate, I’ve got a query for you.” Initially, I assumed it might be about choosing plants for our garden, deciding on a pet dog, or planning our evening meal.

Instead, he knelt down and proposed to me, to which I happily agreed… (and shed quite a few tears).

‘Simply the perfect way to start the next chapter of our lives.’

Less than a year ago, Cate insisted there was no engagement on the horizon. 

During an appearance on Ben Fordham Live! on 2GB, the athlete shared that her sister Bronte Campbell’s engagement to Benfield Lainchbury at the time decreased the chances of her boyfriend, Adam, proposing.

She stated that her partner Adam was saying, “I don’t need to compete right now,” since he won’t be able to outshine Bronte and Benfield for a while.

Cate had some complaints about how her sister’s engagement occurred. 

She shared that he didn’t propose traditionally by kneeling, which made her a bit upset at the moment, however, she’s delighted that he eventually asked for her hand in marriage.

For six years, Cate and Adam’s relationship has been a mix of ups and downs, and it’s worth noting that the renowned swimmer admitted to her partner being unaware of her celebrity status when they first crossed paths.

In a chat with the Sydney Morning Herald way back in 2023, I shared that he had no clue about my identity, and swore up and down that he never bothered to look me up online – it seemed like he didn’t even recognize a fan when he saw one!

During a short period, Cate and they parted ways when she relocated to Sydney for her swimming profession. To her, this separation was her most devastating heartache.

When she returned to Brisbane, the couple reconciled. 

As I returned to my roots in vibrant Brisbane, our paths crossed once more, and since then, we’ve been an unbreakable duo. It’s no secret that the thrill of sports holds a special place in my heart, and he, being well-aware of this fact, has been an understanding companion ever since.

Cate explained that Adam is an immense support to her when she is feeling down or exhausted. 

When you’re exhausted, drained, or down, it’s perfectly fine to seek support and request assistance in restoring your energy, she advised Nine.

Occasionally, we both provide support and occasionally receive it from each other. It’s truly beautiful to serve as a source of strength for the other person.

Last year, Cate indicated to the Sydney Morning Herald that she doesn’t have immediate plans for starting a family.

She expressed that it’s important for her to understand her individual identity before embarking on the significant and life-defining journey of parenthood, so she can do so independently first.
