Robbie Williams heartbreakingly reveals his beloved parents and in-laws’ health is ‘very precarious’ amid dementia and cancer battles as he and wife Ayda Field juggles caring for them with singer’s stadium tour
Robbie Williams has sadly shared that the health of his parents and mother-in-law is extremely critical at the moment, as he and his wife Ayda Field balance their time between caring for them and managing his stadium tour.
Last year, the mother of the well-known 51-year-old Take That member, Janet, was diagnosed with dementia, which sadly means she can no longer recognize her son. His father, Pete, has Parkinson’s disease, and Ayda’s mother Gwen is currently fighting cervical cancer.
The popular songwriter recently posted an extended message on Instagram, detailing his experiences both on and off the stage, as well as discussing his recent illness caused by a virus during his current tour.
In his writing about family matters, a man with four children expressed that the situation at home with his parents is quite unstable currently.
Virus (or health issue) + parents needing care + tour commitments (possibly a busy schedule).
In a straightforward manner, he stated, “Each moment throughout every day serves as practice for the 2+ hours I spend performing on stage. Beyond that timeframe, I have no other commitments.

I have nothing to contribute, but I’m open to talking with those nearby. In truth, I could use some protection myself. But if they need it too, I’ll be there to return the favor.
Earlier this week in Germany, Robbie, who is married and has Teddy (12), Charlie (10), Coco (6) and Beau (4), shared on stage that his mother no longer recognizes him due to a heartbreaking revelation that he isn’t mentally prepared for the situation.
He also discussed dad Pete’s battle with Parkinson’s and shared he can no longer leave the house.
According to The Sun, Robbie shared that his mother suffers from dementia and no longer recognizes him. She also loses track of her surroundings. His father has Parkinson’s disease and is confined at home due to the condition.
Originally, he’d join me for a duet each evening under the spotlight, captivating the audience with his charisma before retreating backstage for a sip of red wine. However, now he’s confined to his home.
As a devoted admirer, I cannot help but express my profound reverence for a woman who holds such a significant place in my life – my mother-in-law. This extraordinary individual faces three formidable challenges: lupus, Parkinson’s, and cancer. Despite these seemingly insurmountable obstacles, she exhibits an indomitable spirit that leaves me awestruck. She is not just surviving but fighting, battling tirelessly against each affliction. Her courage is a beacon of hope, inspiring all those who have the privilege to know her.
In a pensive tone, Robbie mused, “This feels quite surreal,” then added, “I’m just not prepared for this yet.
In an interview last year with The Mirror, Robbie admitted that he was unsure about how to handle the complex circumstances he found himself in.

‘The truth is that I’m very busy and I’m not dealing with the situation as I should.
‘I don’t really know how to do it, it’s an incredibly complicated thing’.
I went on saying, “However, I’d rather keep mum about specifics. After all, once I speak up, there’ll be a flurry of queries coming my way.
In essence, we’re all going through our own challenges, and I’m doing my best to manage mine.
Initially, Robbie shared details about his mother’s diagnosis following a discussion about how his movie, Better Man, portrays his heartfelt bond with his grandmother, who had dementia, on screen.
When asked about his parents’ opinions on the movie, Robbie shared with HELLO! that “Currently, my mom has dementia, similar to my grandmother in the film, and my father has Parkinson’s and is unable to leave bed. As a result, I find myself in a unique phase of life at the moment.
In the year 2020, Robbie disclosed that his dad, Pete, had received a Parkinson’s diagnosis. He confessed then that he was battling intense fear and anxiety in response to his father’s condition.
He explained to The Mirror that getting diagnosed with a health issue while dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic added an extra layer of complexity, since he, his wife Ayda, and their kids were isolating in another country (thousands of miles away) from his parents who live in Los Angeles.
In 1977, Robbie’s parents divorced, and they both have a daughter named Sally, who is eleven years older than Robbie.
In March, Ayda fought back emotions as she delivered a touching homage to her beloved mother Gwen, who is battling not only cancer but also Parkinson’s disease and Lupus.

During her interview on Loose Women, the actress was accompanied by her mom, whom she referred to as her “solid foundation” and “dearest companion”.
In the special Oscars-themed episode of the ITV show held on Sunday night, host Ruth Langsford, aged 64, posed a question to the panel: “Who among your loved ones would you give the title ‘Best Supporting Star’?
In a touching moment, Ayda selected her mother from the audience amidst tears, unlike Denise Welch or Kelly Brook who chose their parents instead.
She expressed heartfelt gratitude for her mother being present, as you might recall, I’ve often spoken about my mother’s ongoing fight against cancer.
‘My mum has always been my best friend, my fiercest rock, my sounding board, my steady Eddy.’
In this very chapter, my mom continues to impart the deepest, most inspiring lessons to me, and I can’t help but feel incredibly thankful. You truly are my role model.
Overcome by emotion, Ayda couldn’t help but dash towards Gwen, who was also shedding tears, and they shared a heartfelt embrace as the audience continued to applaud.

During the month of October, I couldn’t help but express my feelings on Instagram for Breast Cancer Awareness. As a devoted daughter, I felt it was essential to share an update about my mother’s well-being with everyone who follows me.
As a devoted child, I received the heart-wrenching news that my resilient mother, who bravely fought and triumphed over breast cancer, has been diagnosed with a recurrence and spread of cervical cancer.
The news has left us all stunned and personally devastated, causing tears from her, me, and everyone else. Tears have flowed freely. Moments of intense sorrow have been frequent, yet interspersed with instances of extraordinary charm and happiness, which seemed quite unforeseen.
She went on to say: ‘This is like a battle. In place of what my mom has shed in hair and pounds, she’s gained even more in power and courage. I feel fortunate to have such a valiant mother guiding me. And I am filled with immense gratitude that in this very moment, she is here to keep fighting.’
Regrettably, statistics show that half of us may encounter cancer at some point in our lifetimes. To my fellow warriors who have bravely battled this disease, are currently waging a war against it, or will someday stand shoulder-to-shoulder in the fight, I extend my heartfelt solidarity and unwavering resolve to join you in the battle. Together, we shall stand strong and resilient.
