Rylan Clark gives health update on his mother Linda, 72, after she was rushed to hospital with mystery condition

On Saturday morning, Rylan Clark shared an update about his mother Linda‘s health status with their fans, following her recent admission to the hospital.

On Friday evening, the cherished host, aged 36, shared with his audience that he wouldn’t be presenting his BBC Radio 2 program the next day because of an unexpected situation.

As your trusted lifestyle guide, I regretfully have to inform you that I won’t be able to host our show tomorrow due to my current health situation. I want to express my gratitude towards the swift and compassionate care provided by the emergency team at Princess Alexandra Hospital.

This weekend, I took to social media to share some reassuring news with my followers. I’m happy to report that things are looking up, and I’ll be returning home in time for my 73rd birthday, which falls on the 20th of July, Sunday.

‘He posted on Instagram Stories that antibiotics were effective, meaning she can continue taking them orally at home. Therefore, she’ll be celebrating her birthday at home.’

‘Cheers everyone for your messages. Means a lot. Off sort wheelie bins x.’ 

This morning, I shared an update with my followers about my mom, assuring them that she’s improving, albeit without revealing the reason behind her recent hospitalization – a personal matter I wish to keep private.

1. “He mentioned that she is doing fine, and he hopes she’ll be there to celebrate her birthday.” (for the first sentence)

2. “Regarding the wheelie bins, it seems she has concerns about putting them out again.” (for the second sentence)

Linda charmed the country following her appearance on Celebrity Gogglebox, leaving viewers in stitches due to her witty, humor-laden comments.

In 2023, Rylan earlier disclosed that his mother experienced a tragic fall in Marbella and underwent urgent surgery. Afterward, they traveled back home together on a privately chartered aircraft.

I’m absolutely thrilled to report that she’s in great spirits! She’s currently engaged in a delightful conversation with a charming woman sitting beside her. Since 2019, the mother-son pair have been cherished regulars on Channel 4’s Gogglebox; however, they were unable to participate in the most recent season because of Linda’s health issues.

Rylan has also previously opened up about his mother’s battle with Crohn’s disease.

Since my mid-30s, I’ve been managing Crohn’s disease – an ailment that inflames the lining of the digestive tract. It’s not always easy, but with the right diet, exercise, and stress management techniques, I’ve learned to live a fulfilling life despite this health challenge.

Frequently, she requires several surgeries to eliminate impaired sections from her intestine and needs to take a large number of medications daily due to her health issue.

In the United Kingdom, approximately 1 out of every 1,200 individuals experiences Crohn’s disease, a long-term health issue. This condition typically leads to inflammation along the inner walls of the digestive tract, with the small intestine being most frequently affected.

It causes symptoms including diarrhoea, intense abdominal pain, weight loss and fatigue.

Last year in 2017, I found myself facing a challenging six-week journey at the hospital, as my longstanding struggle with Crohn’s disease took its toll on my health.

Previously, Rylan mentioned that she’s dealing with several health issues, which have added complexity to the situation.

That October, Rylan disclosed that Linda was now healthy enough to make her initial visit to his home in over two months, during which she faced various health challenges.

Linda also contracted sepsis in 2018, which almost killed her. 

Previously, Rylan shared with the Daily Mail details about his mother’s struggle with an ailment that significantly impacted various parts of her life.

‘He said that his mother had lost her job due to the illness, which has completely taken over her life. When she was initially diagnosed, it was a heavy blow for her as the diagnosis came too late.’

Starting early gives you an advantage in managing it, since it becomes progressively harder to contain as time passes. Unfortunately, I was raised with this illness myself, given that she was also afflicted – it can be fatal. It’s quite unsettling.

When I was a child, it was challenging due to instances where she wasn’t able to join school outings, and there were times when her symptoms made her uncomfortable, preventing my friends from spending the night.
