As a movie enthusiast, I’m always on the hunt for an engaging film to watch during the weekend. Fortunately, there are some fantastic movies scheduled to be broadcast on television over the next couple of days!
Switching gears from a captivating British mystery series boasting an illustrious ensemble, to a pair of Academy Award-winning Best Pictures, there’s an abundance of movies to immerse yourself in.

Titanic
Among the greatest cinematic triumphs in history, the iconic film “Titanic” once held the title of highest-grossing movie worldwide (later surpassed by director James Cameron’s own “Avatar” 12 years later), and shares a record for the most Academy Awards won by a single film (both garnering 11).
The film unfolds onboard the doomed ocean liner, chronicling the blossoming romance between Jack Dawson (Leonardo DiCaprio), a struggling artist from humble means, and Rose DeWitt Bukater (Kate Winslet), an affluent 17-year-old who is reluctantly promised to the odious Cal Hockley (Billy Zane).

According to The Independent, this is Tarantino’s most thrilling and enjoyable work since Pulp Fiction, and according to The Atlantic, Christoph Waltz’s acting was the standout aspect of the film.

Nestled within a picturesque English countryside manor, a social gathering of the elite unfolds over a hunting weekend. However, the idyllic setting is shattered when a murder occurs, leaving the guests and staff in a whirlwind of intrigue. The ensuing investigation delves into the lives of both parties, revealing secrets hidden beneath the polished facades.
Gosford Park was described as a “splendid British murder-mystery” by Common Sense Media, whereas the BBC stated that “five stars are insufficient to capture its brilliance.

Mrs Doubtfire
In one of the iconic performances by the late Robin Williams, he starred in a timeless 1993 comedy where a father going through divorce pretends to be the title character, a Scottish nanny, to spend more time with his children.
According to the 1987 novel by Anne Fine, the film stars Sally Field and Pierce Brosnan (before his days as James Bond), and it was an enormous box office hit, earning approximately $490 million, while its production budget was only $25 million.
The movie titled Mrs. Doubtfire boasts a 71% positive rating on Rotten Tomatoes, as The Hollywood Reporter praises its ability to delight viewers with its “comforting and heartwarming charm.

Shakespeare in Love
The film “Shakespeare in Love” revolves around a made-up romance between the character portrayed by Joseph Fiennes (the Bard) and Viola de Lesseps (played by Gwyneth Paltrow), as he pens “Romeo and Juliet“. The movie boasts an impressive ensemble cast, including Colin Firth, Ben Affleck, Geoffrey Rush, Imelda Staunton, and Judi Dench.
The film sparked debate when it won the Best Picture Oscar over the favored film “Saving Private Ryan“, but it continues to hold an impressive 92% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes, with The Hollywood Reporter praising the cast and crew for pulling off something extraordinary.
