Disney+ Delays MCU Show Release: Eyes of Wakanda’s New Date Revealed
As a die-hard Disney+ fan, I’m sharing some exciting news about the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Even though we just wrapped up the thrilling Ironheart series starring Dominique Thorne, Disney+’s Marvel Studios-backed platform is already gearing up for its next big project. Instead of diving straight into another live-action show, fans will be treated to a new animation experience first: Eyes of Wakanda, an exciting new series from the talented director Ryan Coogler, who brought Black Panther to life on the big screen. So, MCU enthusiasts, get ready for more adventures set in the captivating world of Wakanda!
The newest preview for “Eyes of Wakanda” suggests that the upcoming Disney+ series from the Marvel Cinematic Universe has experienced a delay in its release. Originally set to debut on August 5, this exciting animated anthology centered around various historical Wakandan warriors will now start Marvel Studios’ second half of their streaming year a fortnight later, with “Black Panther” spin-off taking the lead instead.
In the initial promotion, the sneak peek for “The Eyes of Wakanda” revealed that the series will debut on Disney+ on Wednesday, August 27, 2025.
Approximately three weeks have passed since the original release date of August 5 for the show, but no definitive explanation has been provided yet as to why there was a slight delay.
The “Eyes of Wakanda” is conceived by Black Panther movie director Ryan Coogler and Marvel Studios storyboard artist Todd Harris, expanding the perspective of the beloved fictional African nation, Wakanda. This upcoming series highlights various Wakandan warriors across different eras, each on a quest to retrieve lost Vibranium artifacts. The animated anthology features stars like Winnie Harlow, Cress Williams, and Patricia Belcher, among others, and consists of a total of four episodes.
Every New Marvel Series Coming in 2025 and Beyond
Marvel Zombies
Marvel’s next animated show, titled “Marvel Zombies“, will make its debut this October. This new R-rated streaming series continues the zombie apocalypse narrative started in “What If…?” and explores an alternate Marvel Cinematic Universe where some of Earth’s strongest heroes have succumbed to the undead.
The upcoming series on Disney+ is set to release on October 3 and will feature a total of four episodes. Marvel fans can look forward to recognizable stars from throughout the universe reprising their roles in this exciting new zombie saga. Notable voices contributing to the series include Simu Liu, Iman Vellani, and Florence Pugh.
Wonder Man
In December of 2025, I’ll be part of Marvel Studios’ grand finale for the year, shining a light on a fresh character from the MCU named Simon Williams. This charismatic newcomer will be portrayed by none other than Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, an established actor in Hollywood. My character, Simon, finds himself with extraordinary abilities – his skin becomes incredibly resilient, almost impossible to harm.
In a statement via Marvel Studios, Marvel’s Head of Streaming, Television, and Animation, Brad Winderbaum, referred to the forthcoming Phase 6 series as “an exceptional TV show unlike anything that’s been seen before,” fueling excitement for their upcoming streaming project.
Daredevil: Born Again Season 2
Previously this year, it became clear that fans were eagerly anticipating Charlie Cox’s return as Matt Murdock in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and fortunately, this was just the start for the character. The sequel to “Daredevil: Born Again” has indeed been greenlit, and we can expect its second season to drop in early 2026.
In Season 2 of “Born Again”, we’ll continue the intense crime saga that began in Season 1, with Vincent D’Onofrio’s character Mayor Wilson Fisk launching a war against the vigilantes of New York City. This time, it appears that Matt Murdock/Daredevil (played by Charlie Cox) will receive aid in battling the notorious villain Kingpin. There are whispers that some characters from the Defenders team might join the fray.
Vision Quest
After spending a decade playing supporting roles alongside characters such as Iron Man and Scarlet Witch in Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) productions, Paul Bettany’s Vision will step into the limelight with his own series, “Vision Quest,” set to premiere in 2026. This new series serves as a continuation of where the character was left following the 2021 release of “WandaVision.
The upcoming series is rumored to feature an epic struggle, where Vision faces off against numerous perilous AI entities drawn from various Marvel Comics histories. It is also expected that James Spader’s Ultron will make a reappearance, along with the chilling introduction of Jacosta, portrayed by Zawe Ashton.
Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man Season 2 & 3
The animated Spider-Man series in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is unique as it has several seasons approved before its debut. Already, Seasons 2 and 3 have been announced and are being developed. They focus on an adolescent Peter Parker, tracing his early days as the acrobatic Spider-Man.
The second season of the web-based adventure series is likely to premiere some time in the following year, followed by the third season in 2027, as indicated by the creator, who aims to release a new season annually if feasible.
X-Men ’97 Season 2
Looking forward to the second season of Marvel Television’s highly anticipated animated series, the fashionable X-Men ’97. In 2024, X-Men ’97 captured the hearts of viewers as it continued the story arcs initiated by the iconic 1990s animated X-Men series, weaving an adult-oriented, grandiose narrative around Marvel’s extraordinary team of mutants.
2026’s Season 2 promises to continue with mind-blowing plotlines, such as Wolverine shedding his Adamantium body, the rise of Apocalypse, and the enigma surrounding the vanished Summers brother whose influence will significantly shape the course of the series.
Bonus: Punisher Disney+ Special
Marvel Studios hasn’t produced a TV series yet, but they do have another Disney+ project lined up – Jon Bernthal’s Punisher will be given a special treatment on Disney+ next year. This will be a standalone streamed tale focused on the adult-oriented vigilante character known as The Punisher, rated R.
In 2026, you can expect the Disney+ special of “The Punisher” to hit your screens. The storyline continues with Jon Bernthal’s character, Frank Castle, who is said to confront a new powerful female criminal figure within the Marvel universe.
