Pete Wicks confesses he’s had a ‘tough week’ as he’s reunited with beloved dog Peggy after nearly ‘losing her’

Pete Wicks disclosed that he’s had a challenging week, after announcing the startling news that his cherished dog Peggy came close to dying.

Previously known for his roles in TOWIE and Strictly, the 37-year-old individual expressed great joy upon the return of his French Bulldog, stating he was “extremely happy.” However, he also mentioned that the pet still had a recovery process ahead, with several months of treatment planned.

On Friday, Pete shared a brief update about his sick pet on social media.

Posting a snap of him and Peggy sharing a cuddle, Pete wrote: ‘So happy to get my Peggy back!

This week has been challenging…I almost lost her, and she’s experienced hardships, but there’s no giving up in Peggy like no other dog.

‘We’ve got months of treatment ahead but she’s got this.’

In a different post, Pete shared yet another charming photo of his pet dog on his stories, letting followers know she had returned home.

In a charming black-and-white image, Pete wrote on it: “An unusual Friday evening,” as Peggy is seen reclining on the couch.

Pete is the proud owner of two French bulldogs, Eric and Peggy, both rescues. One of them only has one eye, but that doesn’t stop Pete from expressing his affection for them frequently on social media platforms.

Speaking in an interview last year Pete admitted he preferred dogs to people.

Pete’s dog journey began when him and his mum adopted dog Arnie when he was just 10 years old.

Then in 2016 he rescued Eric from the Dogs Trust centre in Basildon, Essex near where he grew up.

After my own experience on Strictly Come Dancing last season, I can attest that my professional dance partner, Jowita Przystał, has grown to be one of the most significant individuals in my life. The program was a whirlwind, and she was an integral part of helping me navigate through it all.

Last year, Peter was considered an unexpected choice for the BBC show, yet he won over fans so effectively that he advanced to the semi-finals.

To TopMob, Pete openly shared his belief that he would be the initial celebrity eliminated from the show, given his lack of prior dance background when joining Strictly.

Admitting he never thought he would get to the semi-finals, Peter said he owed it all to Jowita.

He confided: ‘A significant portion of our success can be attributed to Jowita, she was an exceptional partner for me. We spent time together on Saturday night, and she has grown to be incredibly vital in my life. She is more than just a friend; she’s one of my closest friends, and I deeply cherish her.’

While on Strictly, Pete participated in a series of humorous acts, such as a popular Samba performance as George of the Jungle, and a side-splitting Cha Cha Cha in Blackpool.

Additionally, he honored his deceased grandmother emotionally during the Couple’s Choice performance, which earned him a perfect score of 10 from lead judge Shirley Ballas.

Previously, he referred to his grandmother as his closest companion; however, in his book “Never Enough,” he also shared the story of her departure from this world.

Speaking with TopMob, Pete expressed that his grandmother, who he referred to as his “support system,” has been a significant influence in his life. Since her passing in 2022, he has undergone numerous transformations.

After the passing of my grandmother a few years back, my life has significantly shifted. She served as a sort of safety net for me, and her absence has caused many changes within me. My thoughts seem to shift, and I find myself needing to have a heart-to-heart conversation with myself.

The reading of this book provided a sense of release for me, as it was an action I felt compelled to undertake. I believe many others may identify with my feelings in specific circumstances, not because of the experiences I’ve had, but rather due to the universal nature of human emotions. After all, everyone has their unique set of life experiences.

‘If all our troubles were combined into one pot and we could choose to only keep our own issues, we might find greater happiness. This is because there are countless individuals facing numerous challenges every day, making their struggles relatable.’
