And Rod Stewart cut a dapper figure as he stepped out in New York on Friday.

The 80-year-old singer known for “You Wear It Well” momentarily showed off his tanned torso under a casual, open-collar white shirt and matching linen shorts.

Rod sported stylish aviator sunglasses and brand-new Converse shoes, along with white socks neatly tucked up high.

He finished off his lively summer outfit with a variety of colorful jewelry pieces such as a pearl necklace, a shiny bracelet adorned with chains, and several rings.

With a cheerful demeanor, the renowned musician, who’s in the middle of his U.S. tour, grabbed a chilled drink while making his way back to his high-end hotel.

Rod appears following his honest disclosure about the emotional turmoil his divorce from Rachel Hunter caused him.

For almost a decade, the well-known rock vocalist was romantically involved with a 55-year-old New Zealand model. During this time, they became parents to two wonderful kids – their daughter Renee (now 33 years old) and son Liam (aged 30).

In a Los Angeles nightclub, the two individuals met when Rachel was only 21. At that time, Rod confessed that his sister Mary had expressed concerns about Rachel being too young for him, given their age difference of 24 years.

Considering the dissolution of his marriage, Rod confessed that the significant age difference was ultimately what led to their separation, a factor he described as causing him immense pain during that period.

Expressing uncommon remarks about his former spouse, he shared with The Times: “Rachel chose to part ways with me due to her youth. My sister had always advised against our marriage in the beginning, but it still left me heartbroken.

Six months following his breakup with Rachel, Rod encountered his current spouse, Penny Lancaster. He attributed the delay in contact solely to the fact that his acquaintance refused to provide her phone number.

When someone questioned whether he preferred being single initially, he jokingly replied, “Absolutely! It took six months for me to get Penny’s number because my bandmate, who had her number, didn’t pass it along.

He remarked, “‘You’ll just be wandering aimlessly during these next six months,” and indeed, that’s exactly what transpired: I enjoyed an extraordinary period during those six months.

Rod enthusiastically praised his wife Penny, aged 54, and shared that she embodies all the qualities he desires, as he expressed feeling more contented than ever before.

In his own words, the artist famous for “Maggie May” recounted in his 2012 autobiography that he encountered his former spouse Rachel for the first time at Roxbury Club in Los Angeles. He described her as someone who struck him as a ‘divine figure.’

In the book, he mentioned that there was an immediate bond between them. She possessed a striking beauty, yet she also had a straightforward, practical demeanor.

‘It was there in her New Zealand accent, but also in her face, which was open and smart.

She not only deviated significantly from the typical image of a flighty model, but she was also financially secure and well-known before her modeling career even began.

I felt so much better about it. There was always this doubt lingering in my mind: Is she genuinely fond of me, or is it more about the things I possess?

On the following day, he arranged for two dozen red roses to be delivered to her modeling office, and their relationship blossomed swiftly. They decided to get married only three months later, on December 1990.

Yet, in January 1999, after eight years of marriage, Rachel ended their union, leaving him devastated. They officially divorced in 2006, seven years later.

After the breakup, Rod resumed his single status and went out on dates with models such as Caprice Bourret; however, their relationship did not endure.

After that encounter, Rod became acquainted with Penny (who was 28 years old), and they soon started a romantic relationship. He had earlier disclosed that this new relationship posed certain challenges for his family at the time.

Rod mentioned that his siblings – Mary, Don, and Bob – were initially hesitant due to the possibility of repeating his past breakup with Rachel. On the other hand, Penny’s brother, Oliver, expressed concerns over her dating a music celebrity.

In my line of work, I’ve seen countless relationships blossom in unexpected ways. Mine with my partner is a prime example. Although we initially faced some challenges, our bond only grew stronger over time. After my previous marriage to Rachel ended officially in June 2007, we decided it was the right moment to commit ourselves fully and tied the knot. It’s been an incredible journey ever since.

Rod and Penny have two kids together, Alastair who is 19 years old, and Aiden at 14. The family is currently enjoying a harmonious relationship with Rod’s former spouse, Rachel.

Back in 2017, Penny shared with the Loose Women group that she and Rachel have since become quite close, despite a bumpy start between them.

Over time, Rachel and I have matured and discovered many shared interests. Now, we often engage in conversations and have moved past the minor disagreement from about a decade or so back.

‘Adulthood is not just about us individuals; it’s also about our relationships with others, like families. From the start, my connection with Rod wasn’t limited to him alone; it encompassed his entire family too.’

‘I saw how all his children were getting on and I wanted my future children to do that as well.’

During big family events, it’s common to find Penny and Rachel beaming alongside each other in group photos.

According to Rod, speaking about Rachel and Penny’s relationship, he mentioned that they have a wonderful rapport now, and Penny has a fantastic connection with Rachel as well.

‘In fact all the exes get on so I think I must have done something right.’ 

The individual in question is a father to eight kids, conceived with five distinct women. He has been down the aisle three times, one of which was with Penny and another with Rachel.

As a young adult at 18, I embraced my eldest child, my daughter Sarah Streeter, who came into my life through my past relationship with Susannah Boffey. Regrettably, we chose to place her in the care of adoptive parents.

As a person who was fortunate enough to be adopted and grow up under the loving care of my parents, I found myself reconnecting with Rod after the loss of my adoptive mother in 2007.

Later, he was blessed with two children – a daughter named Kimberly, who is now 45 years old, and a son called Sean, aged 44. These children were born to him and his former wife, Alana Stewart.

Previously, the star had a child named Ruby (age 37), with his ex-partner Kelly Emberg, prior to marrying his current spouse Rachel. Together, they welcomed two children, Renee and Liam.

Rod then welcomed his youngest two children – Alastair and Aiden – with Penny.

Additionally, the younger two sons displayed their backing for their father recently by joining him at the Glastonbury Festival to catch his main performance last week.

Following his assumption of the Legends role on Sunday, Rod posted pictures on Instagram showing his sons, who were excitedly watching from the audience.

During the performance, Aidan perched atop his older brother Alistair, and the 19-year-old had on a shirt from his adored Celtics football team that hung around his neck.
