Stephen Graham’s “masterpiece” drama just topped a major Netflix chart beating Harlan Coben thriller
Stephen Graham’s highly praised series, titled “Adolescence“, has recently taken the lead on a significant Netflix ranking just a few months following its debut.
The four-act play debuted as early as March, receiving overwhelming praise from critics alongside setting some new benchmarks.
The streaming colossus has recently disclosed their viewership statistics for the first half of 2025 (January to June), and it appears that the series “Adolescence” leads the pack, having been watched for more than 555 million hours, amassing a total of 144.8 million views.

In terms of viewership, the Harlan Coben series “Missing You” ranks fifth with a total of 218.6 million hours watched and 58 million views. Interestingly, another series called “Adolescence” managed to surpass not only the second and third seasons of “Squid Game,” but also took the second and third spots on the list.
In other words, since the third and concluding version of the South Korean thriller wasn’t launched until late June, it’s expected that the viewership numbers will undoubtedly increase.
Shows like “Black Mirror” and “Dept Q” from the UK were quite popular, attracting approximately 30.5 million and 25.4 million views each.
The work titled “Adolescence” is celebrated by many as a “masterpiece,” and it revolves around a 13-year-old schoolboy named Jamie Miller, played by Owen Cooper, following his arrest in connection to the murder of one of his female classmates.
In this production, Graham, working alongside Jack Thorne as creators, assumes the role of Eddie, Jamie’s father, whereas Ashley Walters takes on the character of DI Luke Bascombe.
Recently, Cooper achieved a remarkable feat by securing an Emmy nomination for his exceptional acting performance. This made him the most youthful actor ever, at just 15 years old, to be recognized in the Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series category.
In May, Graham hinted that there might still be a chance for a sequel, expressing to Variety: “Given another opportunity, would I want it to happen again with an entirely new tale? Absolutely yes.
Adolescence is streaming on Netflix.
