Gwyneth Paltrow’s yearbook said ‘obesity’ was her biggest nightmare in high school… bombshell tell-all claims
Gwyneth Paltrow’s teenage ‘nightmare’ was ‘obesity,’ according to a new bombshell biography.
In casual, easy-to-understand language: An informal book, authored by Amy Odell, is said to assert that the editors of Paltrow’s prestigious, all-girls private school in Manhattan, Spence, made a playful jest about her in their yearbook.
In her contribution for the senior yearbook, Paltrow opted to use a line from the 1989 film Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure: “Stay excellent to one another and keep partying, buddies,” as reported by People.
In addition, it was alleged that the yearbook editors included a section titled “Nightmare” and listed the term ‘obesity’ in relation to the Oscar-winning actress.
In the 2001 romantic comedy “Shallow Hal,” directed by the Farrelly Brothers, Gwyneth Paltrow convincingly portrayed the character ‘Rosie,’ a woman of larger size.
The actress later voiced remorse for taking on the role in the movie, a performance that drew criticism from many as potentially promoting ‘size discrimination.’
The Daily Mail has reached out to representatives for the actress for comment.
In an interview with W Magazine in 2001, Paltrow expressed her feelings about the role: “The first time I put on the weight suit at the Tribeca Grand, it was heartbreaking. It was unsettling. People avoided looking at me because I appeared overweight.
‘I had on a black shirt adorned with large snowmen. Unfortunately, the plus-size clothing available for women can be quite unflattering. I was embarrassed and felt disrespected because people seemed to overlook me as a result.’
As an ardent admirer putting it in my own words, let me share this: It was awe-inspiring to learn that it took Tony Gardner, the master of special FX make-up, a staggering four hours to meticulously apply a 25lb prosthetic fat suit on the LA-born star, often criticized as a nepo baby. Remarkably, the film raked in an impressive $141.1M at the global box office, proving that negative reviews and accusations of fatphobia couldn’t dampen its success.
Interestingly, it was necessary for Jack Black to shed pounds to portray financier Harold ‘Hal’ Larson, a character who is mysteriously convinced that Rosie is slim due to magic or hypnosis.
In the year 2020, Gwyneth Paltrow shared with Netflix that Shallow Hal was her least enjoyable acting role. When her assistant, Kevin Keating, commented he would have dissuaded her from it if present, she responded: ‘That’s exactly what happened – a disaster.’
Approximately three years following the release of the movie, Ivy Snitzer – who stood in as Paltrow’s body double in Shallow Hal – shared with The Guardian that she endured years of self-imposed hunger and eventually underwent gastric band surgery. However, her recovery from this procedure was challenging and came close to claiming her life.
As a devoted admirer, I delved into conversations with an impressive 220 individuals—close confidants and associates, current and past—of the 52-year-old Goop CEO and founder, Gwyneth Paltrow, for Amy Odell’s biography that will be available on shelves starting July 29.
A passage from the revealing book disclosed that the empty nester had shed a significant amount of weight prior to the 1999 Academy Awards, making her pink Ralph Lauren dress seem loose around the waist and causing her to remove the built-in corset.
‘Lauren was not happy about the fit,’ Odell noted.
On the April 22nd episode of her Goop podcast, Gwyneth admitted that she had grown somewhat tired of her rigorous Paleo diet and was gradually reintroducing foods like sourdough bread, cheese, and even a bit of pasta into her meals.
On June 23rd, Paltrow shared that she had recently found the EMSculpt Neo procedures, which are designed for fat reduction and muscle building. She was enthusiastic about this non-surgical treatment, stating that it has noticeably improved her slender 5ft9in physique during perimenopause.

On September 29th, it will be the Emmy Award winner’s seventh wedding anniversary with her second spouse, Brad Falchuk, who she initially encountered on the set of the Fox series Glee in 2010.
In the previous year, Gwyneth Paltrow appeared in a pivotal part as the significantly older lover of Timothée Chalamet for Josh Safdie’s first independent film direction project titled “Marty Supreme.” This movie is set to premiere in US cinemas on Christmas Day.
In a film by A24 with a budget of seventy million dollars, you’ll find Tyler the Creator, Fran Drescher, Penn Jillette, Abel Ferrara, and Sandra Bernhard alongside the main cast, starring in this unique ping pong drama.
In addition to her role, Gwyneth Paltrow is set to make a special appearance in the independent comedy “Miracle on 74th Street,” which stars Drew Barrymore, Jill Kargman, Justin Bartha, David Krumholtz, Christine Taylor, and Jason Biggs.
This ex-student from UC Santa Barbara undeniably benefited significantly in her career due to her connections: her actress mom Blythe Danner, television producer dad Bruce Paltrow, and influential godfather, film director Steven Spielberg.
