Slowing Down, Speeding Up: A Hypegolf Weekend in Évian

Evian-les-Bains, nestled above Lake Léman in the French Alps, is a tranquil haven that encourages relaxation. Historically known as a retreat for mineral water enthusiasts and high-end vacationers, this picturesque location transforms during the Amundi Evian Championship. When a significant title is at stake and Porsche is involved, the tempo accelerates significantly.

This year, I hopped on a ride with Porsche to check out their part as a mobility companion and their ground presence at the tournament. The course was etched into a slope, so many of the exciting moments were packed close to the clubhouse. It created a stroll-friendly, almost carnival-esque layout on holes 15 through 18, where spectators moved between tee boxes and greens like festival-goers. On the 16th hole, Porsche organized a hole-in-one challenge, making a Taycan Turbo S up for grabs for both pros and amateurs participating in the pro-am. It added a touch more tension to an already crucial part of the game.

During breaks in play, we moved towards the Porsche Public Area, home to the 911 Spirit 70. The entire setup showcased the distinctive Pasha pattern, a retro checkerboard design from the ’70s, which was seen on the car, signs, and even the espresso bar where spectators lined up for free drinks amidst their excitement. This blend of luxury and accessibility was perfectly balanced.

On Saturday night, we got an opportunity to take the Macan 4S out for a spin on mountainous roads outside town. The winding turns, breathtaking vistas, and the sun casting its golden glow over the hills added another memorable moment to our already fantastic weekend.

On Sunday, the Amundi Evian Championship witnessed high-stakes action. Lottie Woad set a record, shooting the lowest final round as an amateur in the tournament’s history. However, it was Grace Kim who triumphed, enduring a playoff to claim her first major championship title.
