SPOILERS are ahead for Ponies Season 1, now new on streaming.
Even though the 2026 TV season has just begun, I’m already really enjoying a new show called Ponies. I wasn’t very familiar with it before I started watching, but I was intrigued by the lead actresses, Emilia Clarke and Haley Lu Richardson – I’ve loved their work in the past. The idea of the show – two ordinary people becoming spies – also caught my attention.
I quickly watched all eight episodes of the first season and was completely stunned by the finale. As of today, Ponies is doing really well on Peacock, with lots of viewers and positive reviews, but a second season hasn’t been confirmed yet. The creators have told Deadline they’re eager to start working on it if they get the chance. I’m on the edge of my seat wondering what will happen next, especially after that cliffhanger of an ending! Let’s break down some of the unanswered questions.

How Much Of What Andrei Said Was True?
The season concludes with Bea and Twila capturing Andrei Vasiliev, a KGB agent, hoping to learn the truth about their deceased husbands. However, their interrogation doesn’t go as planned, and Andrei reveals shocking information that contradicts everything they’ve discovered while working with the CIA.
Throughout this article, we’ll explore the details, but my initial question is how honest Andrei truly was. Given he’s a KGB agent, deception would be expected. However, in the world of espionage, trust is always a major issue. I’m eager to discover which parts of his story are genuine, and how much is simply a calculated attempt to mislead.

What’s With The String Of Murdered Prostitutes?
As a true crime buff, I thought we had things figured out this season with the murders in Moscow. It seemed pretty clear Andrei was the killer after we saw him commit one of the crimes, and honestly, the evidence really pointed to him being a complete psychopath. But then, during questioning, he threw this huge curveball – he claimed the CIA was behind Galyna’s murder! He said she was a KGB agent and they killed her, making it look like him and others were responsible. Now, knowing this could absolutely be a lie, it’s definitely got me wondering if there’s a bigger story behind those prostitute murders than we initially thought.

Who’s Side Is Sasha Really On?
I especially enjoyed the connection between Galyna’s brother, Sasha, and Bea this season, and I was rooting for them to start a new life together in New York. The season finale ended with Sasha being seriously injured and rescued by the CIA, which left me wondering about his fate. Now, after seeing the final moments, I’m starting to question whether he was truly an ally all along. It would be devastating for Bea if it turns out he’s been working against them, and I really hope that isn’t the case next season.

What’s Going On With Chris?
Honestly, the biggest shock of the season was learning that Bea’s husband, Chris, is actually still alive. It’s unbelievable – after everything she went through to discover what happened to him, he was just secretly hiding? (It was a tough shoot too – Emilia Clarke even broke a rib filming some of the scenes!) I’m completely stunned and disappointed.
Let’s revisit the idea that Chris might have been a double agent, not Tom, as Vera claimed. The finale showed Chris is still alive and has connected with Dane and Bea’s grandmother. I’m curious about where this new development will lead the story, and especially how Bea will react when she learns the truth.

And, What’s Cheryl’s Backstory?
I’ve been asking a lot of questions, and here’s another one: What’s the deal with Ray’s wife, Cheryl? It appears she might be a KGB agent and could have been the spy all along. It’s a total surprise, but it explains why she shot her nanny – that was a really strange incident.
I’m really interested in finding out more about Cheryl’s past and what motivated her choices. Exploring her character could be fascinating – was she unhappy with her life as a secretary and homemaker, or did she have a hidden plan involving Ray?

How The Heck Are Bea And Twila Going To Get Out Of This?
I’m really hoping we find out what happens to Bea and Twila after the finale. We last saw them trapped in a burning building and taken by Andrei and the KGB. I expect Dane and Ray will have to rescue them, but it would be great if Bea and Twila could somehow outsmart Andrei or escape on their own. This is the most dangerous situation they’ve faced all season. It’s also interesting because, unlike in the first season, they’ve been working on missions separately for the most part.
I really enjoyed watching Twila and Bea together in Season 1 of Ponies. It was a surprisingly twisty and captivating show, and felt fresh compared to other things on TV. It’s a spy thriller, but with a unique focus on the wives of CIA agents in the 1970s. It turned out to be a really funny buddy comedy, which was a delightful surprise! Peacock, please make Season 2 – I definitely need to know what happens next!
