The DCU Wonder Woman movie and Matt Reeves’ The Batman 2 have both received exciting updates.
The universe created by James Gunn and Peter Safran for DC Comics is thriving at Warner Bros. Pictures following the debut of Superman. Subsequently, the DCU will carry on next month with the second season of Peacemaker, while Supergirl and Clayface are slated to appear in 2026.
Currently, Reeves is developing his unique version of a shared DC Universe titled “The Batman Epic Crime Saga.” In this narrative, Robert Pattinson plays the role of Batman. At present, a follow-up to The Batman is projected for release in the year 2027.
What are the updates on Wonder Woman and The Batman 2?
As reported by Variety, Warner Bros. appears to be prioritizing the development of a Wonder Woman film in the DC Universe over a sequel to the Superman movie. However, Warner Bros. declined to provide comments for Variety’s article and no further details are currently known.
Excitedly, I’ve learned that Warner Bros. seems to be quite pleased with the script for The Batman 2. This bodes well for fans like me since it suggests minimal changes might be needed, keeping the movie on its existing production schedule. In other words, we can anticipate the release date won’t be moved around much anymore!
Another point to consider is the timing of when Batman will officially debut in the live-action DC Universe, as he had a brief, silent appearance in the animated series Creature Commandos. Director James Gunn has stated multiple times that Robert Pattinson likely won’t play the DCU’s Batman and the two worlds won’t intersect; furthermore, there’s a movie titled The Brave and the Bold, featuring Batman, which is part of the DCU and is being directed by Andy Muschietti.
As a die-hard fan of DC Comics, I’ve been eagerly waiting for updates on “The Brave and the Bold” project, but alas, it seems like we’ve heard very little about it recently. This silence has left me pondering: what exactly will Bruce Wayne’s character arc within the DC Universe entail? Will we finally get to see him in action before “The Batman 2”? Fingers crossed that we don’t have to wait too long!
Right now, The Batman 2 is set to be released on October 1, 2027. As of yet, there’s no confirmed release date for Wonder Woman, but if it gets expedited in the production process (fast-tracked), fans may not have to wait too long for some pre-production updates.
