Davina McCall, 57, insists she’s ‘not scared of dying anymore’ in powerful confession following life-changing brain tumour
Davina McCall has openly stated that she no longer fears death after experiencing a transformative event involving a brain tumor.
The television host, aged 57 and now in good health after overcoming a significant tumor, shared that this experience has provided her with a renewed sense of life, as she no longer harbors the fear of death.
In November, Davina received a diagnosis for a seldom encountered, non-cancerous brain growth known as a colloid cyst. Subsequently, she underwent a lengthy surgical procedure that lasted for six hours.
Due to her brain tumor, Davina found herself needing to have challenging discussions with her loved ones, just in case she didn’t regain consciousness after the surgery.
Over the weekend, Davina shared at Fearne Cotton’s Happy Place Festival in Gunnersby Park that her outlook on life has significantly changed for her.
She confessed that she no longer fears death, and her experience from August 2023 to November 2024 was the most significant journey of her life.

As a devoted host of my Begin Again podcast, I’m now committed to offering comfort and guidance to those nearing their final moments. My goal is to ensure they can look back on their lives with satisfaction, saying, “I lived the life I desired,” rather than harboring regrets like, “If only I hadn’t taken that job. If only I hadn’t stayed in that relationship.
At times, it seems as though forces beyond our control may be involved. The apprehension that surrounds the term “tumor” is palpable. During those moments, Fearne and I shared an unspoken understanding.
‘Reaching this spot is truly remarkable, and it’s not about fearing death, but rather embracing the adventure. It’s uncommon to find people who live without regrets and fully embody the life they desire, making each moment count.’
Last month, in an interview with Women’s Health, Davina shared about her recent health struggle: “Upon discovering my brain tumor, I told Michael, ‘If I survive, this will undoubtedly be the most remarkable experience of my life.’
Despite the traumatic experience, Davina maintained an optimistic perspective, expressing that she wouldn’t alter any part of what happened.
In humble reflection, I’ve come to truly cherish and appreciate who I am. Over the years, I’ve embarked on an incredible personal odyssey, facing adversities that were nothing short of daunting. Yet, these experiences have shaped me into the person I am today – a stronger, wiser, and more compassionate individual.
Experiencing difficulties right now often means growth is occurring. It’s a positive sign that learning will take place as a result.
Over the last two years, my learning experiences have been incredibly vast and rewarding. I wouldn’t swap them for anything.

When it occurred, it felt catastrophic, but don’t let future disasters intimidate you. Instead, they can help shape you into a stronger individual.
In a recent video, Davina was seen alongside her partner, Michael Douglas, who revealed that Davina had been given a clean bill of health following an MRI examination.
Additionally, the popular television figure disclosed unique ‘before-and-after’ images from her scan, showing that the tumor had entirely vanished from her brain.
In this video, you’ll find our last brain surgery update. We had the final MRI this week, and @brain.surgeon.uk successfully removed everything during the operation, ensuring it won’t return.
Oh, I simply can’t express enough gratitude! A heartfelt thank you to everyone at @onewelbeck and @clevelandclinic for your exceptional care and support. To my dear mum and @mdlondon, you’ve been absolutely phenomenal in taking such meticulous care of me. To Sarah, my BFF, your unwavering friendship has meant the world to me. And to my incredible kids, who have stood by my side throughout this journey, I can’t thank you enough! Lastly, a shoutout to @brain.surgeon.uk, you truly are the greatest of all time in your field. Gratitude doesn’t seem sufficient for what you’ve done for me.
I am incredibly grateful, especially since I’m aware that many people are dealing with incurable tumors. I consider myself fortunate to be able to close this chapter and continue with my life, while so many others can’t. Let me emphasize this once more: having a benign tumor doesn’t mean everything is okay.
She shared that she recently underwent her last MRI, confessing that she felt anxious because there might still be some tumor remaining, which could potentially regrow, requiring her to experience the entire process once more.
She had mentally braced herself for that situation, and Michael mentioned that he, too, felt anxious because it represented a significant milestone.
Laughing with joy and relief, Davina then added: ‘but it was clear!’
