Netflix is removing James Nesbitt and Anne-Marie Duff’s “gripping” crime drama this month

Netflix will be taking down the intense crime drama starring James Nesbitt and Anne-Marie Duff, titled “Suspect,” from its library towards the end of this month.

In this gripping series, I step into the shoes of detective Danny Frater, a role brilliantly portrayed by Nesbitt. The show delves into my journey as I retrace the last moments of my daughter, whose lifeless body was discovered in a mortuary. My ex-wife, the psychotherapist Susannah Newman, played by Duff, also makes an appearance.

A seasoned investigator embarks on a somber journey, questioning potential culprits, in an attempt to solve the enigma surrounding the demise of his distant child.

Alongside Duff and Nesbitt, we have Joely Richardson, Ben Miller, Niamh Algar, Antonia Thomas, Sacha Dhawan, Sam Heughan, Richard E. Grant, and Imogen King as the new cast members.

Netflix will be removing Season 1 from their platform by July 31st, so fans only have about two weeks left to catch up and enjoy all eight episodes before they disappear from the streaming service.

At Digital Spy, our take on the first season was that it presented a captivating murder mystery, keeping viewers on the edge of their seats right up to the final moments.

In the meantime, The Australian commented: “This cop show-turned-psychological family drama boasts an outstanding cast that will surely captivate viewers.

Many people didn’t feel as excited about it as others might, with The Independent stating: “Suspect lacks appeal. It doesn’t introduce an engaging new character in the realm of British TV detectives. In truth, the only aspect that leaves one puzzled is why this show even exists.

Earlier, discussing the show that premiered on Channel 4 in 2022, Nesbitt remarked: “From the instant I read the script, I found myself connecting with Danny – his imperfections, weaknesses, and the heart-wrenching predicament he’s in. It resonated deeply with me.

In each episode of the show Suspect, we have a highly dramatic two-person scene, where Danny engages in a mental chess match with another character who could possibly have information about his daughter’s sudden demise. I’m absolutely excited to clash swords with my co-actors and guide this remarkable troupe of acting skills.

Season 1 of Suspect is leaving Netflix on 31 July.
