Sting’s daughter’s extravagant three-day wedding in Sicily – including family performances and emotional father-of-the-bride speech

Over the weekend, Fuchsia Kate Sumner, renowned rock legend Sting’s daughter, exchanged vows with her long-term companion, Max Wright, in a lavish three-day event held in the picturesque Sicilian town of Noto.

The celebration featured an emotional speech by the well-known groom’s father, causing many guests to shed tears – not to mention a close call with a potential fashion mishap during the wedding ceremony itself.

Kate, a 43-year-old actress and filmmaker known as such, exchanged vows with Max, an influential figure in the arts and technology sector, surrounded by loved ones and dear friends.

Kate has described it as ‘the most fun three days of our lives.’

Last Friday, the festivities began in Noto, a site used for filming White Lotus season 2. Exciting events took place at several well-known landmarks within the city.

As the host, I was thrilled to have the esteemed presence of musical powerhouses like Sting and his wife, Trudie Styler, gracing our gathering. Not to be outshone, my dear sister Kate’s talented older brother, Joe Sumner, added a captivating touch with his live guitar performances throughout the event. It was indeed a delightful blend of family bonding and musical prowess!

Kate, daughter of Sting’s first wife, the Northern Irish actress Frances Tomelty, was accompanied by her step-siblings, Sting’s children from his second marriage to Trudie.

In this group are Mickey, a 41-year-old actress who serves as the maid of honor; Eliot, a 34-year-old musician and actor; Jake, a 40-year-old filmmaker; and Giacomo, a 29-year-old actor.

On the very first day, attendees were treated to a lively street celebration that featured an Italian marching band. They indulged in regional delicacies such as freshly-baked Italian loaves and aperitifs.

In the evening hours, they enjoyed an exceptional show titled “A Serenade” (Una Serenata in Italian), which was put on at the Teatro Comunale Tina di Lorenzo as a means of honoring traditional Sicilian customs.

Kate donned a Maison Valentino mermaid-style gown that was white and adorned with delicate lace, featuring a high collar and an open back, whereas Max chose a terracotta shirt and matching pants for his attire.

The following day was marked by the primary spectacle, yet it came close to being marred by a wardrobe predicament. It transpired that Max owned only black laces for his expensive £720 beige Prada shoes.

In a pinch, when there were no white laces available, creative thinker Erica Cloud (an American fashion stylist) resourcefully made use of a shoestring from a bag, tying it as makeshift laces for the shoes.

The crisis was successfully avoided, and the outdoor wedding ceremony proceeded beautifully amidst a stunning setting of red and white flowers.

Kate adorned an exquisite off-shoulder lace dress embellished with embroidery and bearing her monogram, as opposed to Max who opted for a smart, gray suit.

Following their heartfelt promises, plumes of green and pink rose into the air as they shared their first kiss as a married couple. With pride shining on her face, Kate led the way through the city, carrying their well-dressed toddler son who was already one year old.

At the reception, Sting gave an unforgettable speech that was both touching and amusing. He shared some jokes about his initial thoughts on Max, expressing his confusion over the man based on his daughter’s affection for him, but soon discovered that he was indeed a genuinely nice person.

Audience members alternated between laughter and tears as the celebrated musician spoke about his joy that his daughter had found true love.

During the reception, Sister Mickey – accompanied by her soon-to-be husband Carter B Smith and her son from her past marriage with tech CEO Chris Kantrowitz – delivered a heartfelt speech. She referred to Kate as ‘the most radiant bride’ that day. Later on, Kate fondly recalled it as ‘one of the best speeches she had ever heard.’

In the latest James Bond film, No Time To Die, Eliot, who is her sibling, had a part as a security guard. Joining him was his stylish partner, Mollie Davis.

Last year, Eliot, a person identifying as non-binary, began a relationship with a divorced mother of two, following their separation from British aristocrat and model Frankie Herbert, who is a descendant of the 7th Earl of Carnarvon.

Additionally present were the renowned British film director Charlotte Colbert and her artist spouse Philip Colbert, disc jockey Mia Moretti (who delighted us with a late-evening performance), and music executive Henri Behrmann.

The dinner occurred at Dimora delle Balze, the location of Chiara Ferragni and Fedez’s 2018 wedding, where the tables were beautifully set with candles for illumination.

Visitors feasted on pasta, ciabatta, fresh catch, lobster, and an assortment of vegetables while celebrating the couple beneath tastefully hung fairy lights.

Following dinner, they continued dancing deep into the evening, grooving along to a mix of Stevie Wonder hits like “I Wish” and popular disco tunes.

On the third day, I invited everyone to savor their last hurrah, beginning with an invigorating “Grand Slam Barbecue” designed to revitalize after the previous night’s festivities. The spread included a lavish barbeque setup showcasing succulent chicken, a bounty of fresh fruits, and an array of vegetables.

Mayor Corrado Figura consecrated the celebrations as Sting made his entrance in the old town center.

I was thrilled beyond words to snap a picture with the legendary Sting at the wedding of Fuschia Katherine Sumner and Maximillian Wright! Right in the midst of stunning Sicilian Baroque architecture, it was an honor I’ll cherish forever, sharing the moment with a global music icon.

The mayor handed Sting a book commemorating Noto, referring to it as “a modest token of appreciation for allowing us to be part of such a significant event in your family.

He expressed gratitude towards Fuschia, Maximillian, and Sting for selecting Noto. Our town takes great pride in being a part of this beautiful love tale.

Two years back, Kate and Max made their engagement public, while just recently, Kate celebrated her bachelorette party with her friends. During this event, they enjoyed fried chicken and had a blast dancing in wigs together.

People often characterize Max as being understated yet charismatic, and completely dedicated – a feeling that resonated strongly during the wedding festivities over the entire weekend.
