Kim Kardashian flaunts Elizabeth Taylor’s $400K diamond earrings after losing Birkin auction

On Saturday, Kim Kardashian posted some backstage photos on social media, showcasing a glimpse of her strut at the fall 2025 haute couture event held in Paris.

As a die-hard fan, I can’t help but gush over the dazzling display I witnessed! The reality star, 44, was nothing short of a beacon of brilliance, adorned with a myriad of diamonds that sparkled like stars in the night sky. Amongst these glittering jewels, the pièce de résistance were the colossal chandelier earrings, once belonging to the legendary actress Elizabeth Taylor. Remarkably, these exquisite pieces were temporarily loaned by none other than the esteemed jewelry designer Lorraine Schwartz. Simply breathtaking!

She labeled one of the photo series as ‘DEMNA’, paying tribute to the final fashion show by designer Demna Gvasalia from Balenciaga.

The Oscar-winning actress received her earrings from her husband, Mike Todd, in the year 1957, just a few months prior to his passing in March 1958.

Kardashian’s attire resembled a cream silk nightgown worn by Taylor in the 1958 movie “Cat on a Hot Tin Roof.” The dress she chose was reminiscent of that style.

Taylor received an Oscar nomination for Best Actress, thanks to her exceptional performance as Maggie ‘The Cat’, opposite stars like Paul Newman and Burl Ives in a movie.

One of the pictures showed the preliminary design sketch that the designer prepared, which was intended for Kardashian’s endorsement.

Additionally, they experienced a practice session for the real catwalk at the fashion show, which featured special attendees like Lauren Sanchez, Lorde, Nicole Kidman, Naomi Watts accompanied by her daughter Kai, and delighted them all with an impressive spectacle.

Like Taylor, the American Horror Story actress wore matching satin pumps.

Denma added a white fur coat to the look, upsetting some of Kardashian’s fans. 

‘Are you back to fur???’ one asked.  

‘Somewhere in the arctic, a polar bear just filed a fashion lawsuit,’ commented another. 

The jewelry she donned also featured a multicarat diamond necklace that Richard Burton, her former spouse, had given Taylor.

In her 2003 book, Elizabeth Taylor’s Love Affair with Jewelry, she expressed that she viewed herself more like a guardian of her jewels.

I hope, when I’m gone and they’re put up for sale, the new owner provides a loving and suitable environment for these earrings, which are estimated to be worth around $400,000.

This week, Kardashian aimed to acquire another significant fashion artifact – Jane Birkin’s original Hermès Bag that went up for auction. However, she was outbid by a Japanese collector who won it for an astounding $10.1 million.
