Michael B Jordan’s ’60s heist thriller remake confirms impressive cast

Michael B Jordan’s upcoming remake of The Thomas Crown Affair has confirmed its impressive cast.

In this modern retelling of a 1968 heist movie, the character played by Jordan is a wealthy individual who makes off with a priceless artwork. This action draws the attention of an insurance detective, leading to a playful chase where they both develop romantic feelings for each other, akin to two cats and mice caught in a trap.

In September, it was made official that Jordan would be directing based on a script penned by Drew Pearce. Taylor Russell was confirmed as the co-lead in March. Now, four months later, we’ve unveiled an extensive and impressive lineup of supporting actors for the project.

Excitedly posting on Instagram, I shared the thrilling news that Kenneth Branagh, Lily Gladstone, Danai Gurira, Pilou Asbæk, and Aiysha Hart have officially joined the cast for an upcoming project! The lead star and I, as the director, also announced that production has kicked off in preparation for a projected release date in March 2027. Can’t wait to bring this incredible ensemble together on set! #March2027ReleaseDate #ExcitingCastUpdate

Jordan’s movie represents the third adaptation of the story; the initial movie featuring Steve McQueen and Faye Dunaway was re-imagined in 1999, with Pierce Brosnan and Rene Russo taking on the main characters instead.

In a new turn of events, Jordan will take the reins for the second time as he steps into the director’s chair for “The Thomas Crown Affair.” Notably, this isn’t his first venture as a director, having already made his debut with “Creed III.” Beyond directing and featuring in the production, Jordan also plans to produce this exciting project.

Although the release of the heist movie is yet to grace the silver screen, this year has been extraordinarily fruitful for Jordan, who starred in “Sinners,” a high-octane action film penned and helmed by Ryan Coogler.

As a passionate fan, I had the privilege of discussing Ryan Coogler’s groundbreaking movie with Miles Caton, who enthusiastically replied to Jordan’s Instagram post with three fire emojis. During our conversation, Miles shared his profound personal connection to the film, revealing that music is a deeply rooted passion within his family lineage.

The actor who portrayed Sammie noted that he hails from a family deeply rooted in music. It seems that every member of his family possesses the ability to sing or play an instrument. For him, transitioning into acting while maintaining a bond with music was quite extraordinary and personally meaningful.

The Thomas Crown Affair is scheduled to be released in March 2027.
