David Corenswet Reveals Which MCU Character He Auditioned For Before Superman

Prior to portraying the DC Universe’s Superman, it turned out that David Corenswet had previously tried out for a part within the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

What MCU role did David Corenswet audition for?

More recently, in a fun-filled BuzzFeed video featuring the main Superman cast and James Gunn, playing with adorable puppies, Corenswet disclosed that he had previously auditioned for a role in James Gunn’s upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, which is set to release in 2023.

In “Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3”, as stated by Corenswet, he shared who he tried out for the role – it was apparently his initial audition within the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Initially, Adam Warlock’s role was intended for Corey Swert, but that opportunity passed him by in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, he has now become synonymous with the new DC Universe, and it’s expected that he will take on the iconic role of Superman in multiple films produced by DC Studios in the future.

The first feature film from DC Studios, starring Superman, is set to fly into cinemas globally this summer, distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures. According to the official summary, director James Gunn brings his unique flair to the classic superhero in a refreshed DC universe, combining thrilling action, humor, and emotional depth. The new portrayal of Superman emphasizes his compassionate nature and faith in humanity’s goodness.

In the lead roles, David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan are joined by Isabela Merced portraying Hawkgirl, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho, María Gabriela de Faría as The Engineer, Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Terence Rosemore as Otis, Wendell Pierce as Perry White, Pruitt Taylor Vince as Jonathan Kent, Neva Howell as Martha Kent, Beck Bennett as Steve Lombard, Mikaela Hoover as Cat Grant, and Christopher McDonald as Ron Troupe.

Superman is now available in theaters.
