Liam Gallagher makes a cryptic reference to his now-deleted social media post during Heaton Park show after sparking outrage over racial slur
During the second evening performance at Heaton Park on Saturday, Liam Gallagher subtly hinted towards his deleted social media post, making a veiled remark while on stage.
As a lifestyle connoisseur, I find myself compelled to address a recent incident involving a well-known artist, who at the age of 52, stirred up controversy earlier this month by using a racially offensive term in reference to X. Following swift backlash, he subsequently issued an apology for his insensitive words.
Known for his bold and contentious statements, Liam sparked pain and outrage among many of his Asian followers when he used the disrespectful term ‘chingchong’.
The term is a disrespectful mimicry of the Chinese language, often employed to ridicule or belittle individuals of East Asian origin.
In reference to the occurrence before a packed crowd of 80,000 in Manchester, Liam clarified that he accidentally singed his eyelashes.
He commented afterwards: “I should put on sunglasses tonight, I didn’t use them yesterday, woke up feeling as if I were a grasshopper this morning. Is it okay to refer to myself as a grasshopper?

Two weeks ago, it seemed like Liam posted a tweet, addressing his critics with the statement: “It’s an age-old way of thinking, catch up!
He later responded to one fan warning him he’d be cancelled by saying: ‘Whatever’.
However, it appeared that he had recognized his mistake following the removal of the initial tweet. Subsequently, he returned to X to express apologies for the offensive remark, stating that it was not meant intentionally.
Apologies if my previous tweet unintentionally caused any offense; I assure you, it was never my intention. You’re all dear to me, and I stand for inclusivity and love. Sending you peace and love, LG x.
Nonetheless, the impact was significant for numerous individuals. Some were less than satisfied with his apology, describing his behavior as ‘unexpectedly disappointing’.
They expressed on social media that one of their friends attended Liam Gallagher’s Knebworth concert solo, only to be attacked by racists. It wasn’t just an inappropriate comment; it was frightening for the friend because of the racist insults hurled at them. It may seem acceptable to you if you haven’t experienced people using racial slurs against you. However, it’s important for adults to recognize that defending racism is never justified.
As a die-hard admirer, I’m left bewildered by the sheer number of fellow fans who are defending Liam Gallagher and claiming he’s done no wrong. It seems that merely singing our favorite tunes doesn’t absolve him from the clear display of racism. Why is it so hard to see beyond the melodies and address the underlying issues?
One might find it surprising that by 2025, when Liam Gallagher reached the age of 52, he’d still view casual racism as a form of edginess.

On Friday, Liam and Noel walked side by side, initiating the beginning of their five-consecutive-night performance at Heaton Park.
In their hometown of Manchester, Oasis played an electrifying show to a packed audience of 80,000 people, following the kickoff of their global tour in Cardiff just a week prior.
At Heaton Park, which spans over 600 acres in Bury and Manchester, you’ll find concerts that are unique among those held in the UK, as they’re the only shows happening outside of a stadium, unlike events at the Principality Stadium, Wembley, or Murrayfield.
To kick off their performance, Oasis began with the track “Hello” from their 1995 second album, “(What’s the Story) Morning Glory.” Following this, they played “Acquiesce.
As a die-hard admirer, I was absolutely thrilled to be served up Morning Glory, Some Might Say, Cigarettes and Alcohol, and Supersonic prior to Noel’s intimate acoustic performance – what a fantastic treat it was!
As a die-hard devotee, let me tell you about some of the tracks that had me hooked – D’You Know What I Mean, Cast No Shadow, Stand By Me, Whatever, and Rock N Roll Star. These tunes were my favorites!
Oasis ended the night on Champagne Supernova with fireworks being set off from the stage.
