At present, Jeff’s health is being managed by a group of doctors due to a widespread infection he’s been fighting off. Unfortunately, they’ve informed him that he can’t perform right now and won’t be able to schedule anything either.
Today, Jeff’s thoughts are primarily with the enduring impact of the band and their devoted fans. Although he deeply regrets not being able to perform, he understands that prioritizing his health and recovery is essential at this moment.
On Thursday, Jeff issued an update after the band were forced to cancel their show in Manchester.

Unfortunate announcement: Regrettably, the concert that was supposed to happen has been canceled with just 45 minutes remaining. Here’s wishing Jeff Lynne from Jeff Lynne’s ELO and Coop Live a speedy recovery. -Clark Osgrove (Coop Live)
I’ve been seated at CoopManchester, eagerly waiting for Jeff Lynne’s ELO performance. However, the organizers chose to inform us that Jeff Lynne wouldn’t be performing only after everyone had settled down.
After everyone had paid for parking, food, and merchandise, I hope Jeff Lynne has a good time, but the organizers seem to have been poor at managing things.
Let me rephrase that for you: “Jeff Lynne isn’t feeling well, I hope he recovers soon. However, waiting for hours without any update until 8:15 PM seems rather disappointing.

I hope Jeff Lynne recovers quickly! I noticed he didn’t seem to be in good health during his performance last night. It seems people who were there have commented on it. But why wasn’t his team aware of this and take necessary action? Nevertheless, they managed to make some sales from drinks and merchandise.
At his initial Manchester concert on Wednesday, Jeff disclosed that he had fractured his hand a few days prior.
He informed the gathering: “I had an accident in London. A taxi suddenly sped away from its origin and collided with my hand.
‘It really hurt at the time. That’s why I haven’t got a guitar – I normally would have.’
Some spectators additionally expressed their worries about the artist, posting comments such as: “Lucky to attend Jeff Lynne’s concert in Manchester tonight. The performance was outstanding, yet I departed with concerns for his well-being.
After the performance, he appeared quite weak and needed assistance to leave the stage. Here’s wishing you a peaceful sleep and a swift recovery, Jeff.
What a shocker last night! Unfortunately, Jeff Lynne met with an accident in a taxi in London and broke his hand. Certainly, his absence on the guitar was palpable. Here’s wishing for his swift recovery and a speedy return to his music.
As a die-hard enthusiast, I can’t hide my excitement as ELO embarks on their farewell journey! Jeff shared the news last year that they’ll take the stage one last time at BST Hyde Park in 2025 on a Sunday. It’s a date I’ve already marked in my calendar and can hardly wait!
In an interview with The Times, he mentioned that his touring resumed at Hyde Park in 2014. He believes it’s ideal for us to perform our farewell concert there.
As a lifestyle connoisseur, I am thrilled beyond words to invite you, my esteemed UK followers, to join me for an extraordinary evening in the heart of London. Just as the lyrics go, we’ll be dancing and celebrating “One More Time!” It’s going to be unforgettable!
For quite some time, Jeff has been the most enduring band member within a rock group that has undergone numerous transformations throughout its history.
In 1986, he broke up the band, paving the way for drummer Bev to establish ELO Part II, a group that eventually became recognized as an orchestra.
After a short get-together in 2000, Jeff later brought back the group under the name Jeff Lynne’s ELO, with the original keyboardist Richard Tandy joining him again.
Richard had joined ELO as a bassist in 1972 before becoming the band’s full-time keyboardist.
Regrettably, I was left heartbroken when the man I admired so deeply took his final breath at the tender age of 76. The devastating news was shared by none other than Jeff in the cruel month of May.
With a heavy heart, I announce the unfortunate demise of my trusted partner and cherished friend, Richard Tandy, whom I’ve worked closely with for a significant period.
He was an exceptional musician and friend, and the collection of memories we shared will always be treasured by me. My heartfelt sympathies go out to Sheila and the entire Tandy family.
During a span of 13 years, ELO (Electric Light Orchestra) managed to sell more than 50 million records across the globe. In recognition of their significant contributions, Jeff Lynne, Richard Tandy, Roy Wood, and Bev Bevan were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in the year 2017.
One of their most renowned and distinct songs is Mr. Blue Sky, which was unveiled in 1978 as part of their seventh studio album titled “Out of the Blue.

This tune is often played in various forms of popular entertainment, appearing in movies and TV series like “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind”, “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” and “Doctor Who”. It was also played during the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2012 Summer Olympics.
The track was penned and arranged by Jeff, who shared with Rolling Stone that it’s arguably his most popular tune.

Pondering about the inspiration behind the success, he shared: ‘I recall jotting down the lyrics. It was at a cabin nestled in the Swiss Alps, surrounded by foggy and overcast scenery.’
For the initial four days, I was unable to glimpse any rolling landscapes. However, eventually, the scenery opened up, revealing an expansive vista that seemed endless, and the sky above me was a brilliant shade of blue.
