Actor who sued Tyler Perry for sexual harassment says he ‘couldn’t stay silent anymore’
Previously silent following his lawsuit against Tyler Perry, film actor Derek Dixon, who made accusations of sexual misconduct, is now speaking out. Last month, he filed a lawsuit seeking a staggering $260 million from the producer and media magnate.
After filing a significant lawsuit in June, “The Oval” actor Dixon expressed to The Hollywood Reporter that he felt compelled to take action against Perry, stating, “I couldn’t simply stand by and let him escape unscathed.
In his lawsuit, Dixon claimed that during the time he worked for Perry from January 2020 until June 2024, the entertainer continuously engaged in sexual harassment, assault, and retaliation, as stated in court papers examined by The Times. Prior to his role in Perry’s “The Oval,” Dixon had a short stint in BET’s “Ruthless.” He then landed a part in “The Oval” and starred in 85 episodes from 2021 to 2025.
Dixon stated to THR, “It’s essential for everyone to be able to work and fulfill their responsibilities without facing unwanted sexual advances from their superiors. I aim to create an environment where the upcoming generation of artists and innovators won’t have to compromise between their aspirations and their self-respect.

Actor involved in ‘The Oval’ series is bringing a lawsuit against Tyler Perry, with his lawyer claiming the allegations are invented or made up.
On Friday, The Times was directed to the first statement made by Perry’s lawyer, Matthew Boyd, which refutes the claims made by Dixon.
According to Boyd’s statement, it seems this person was attempting to deceive Tyler Perry by getting close for the purpose of running a scam. However, Tyler Perry won’t be intimidated, and we have faith that these allegations of harassment, which appear to be fabricated, will not succeed.
Dixon shared with the media outlet his memories of starting work for Perry and also discussed the producer’s persistent efforts, allegedly aimed at initiating a sexual relationship with him. In his lawsuit, Dixon mentions explicit text messages that Perry is said to have sent, one of which inquired about what it would take for Dixon to have guilt-free sex.
In a lawsuit, Dixon made serious accusations of sexual assault against Perry, which were particularly incriminating. The 46-page complaint outlined various instances, such as an incident at Perry’s guesthouse in Georgia where the producer reportedly lowered Dixon’s underwear and inappropriately touched him. Furthermore, the complaint asserted that Perry had sexually assaulted Dixon during a prior visit to his guesthouse and during a meeting inside his director’s trailer.
The lawsuit claims that Dixon turned down Perry’s advances and skillfully navigated their relationship, maintaining a professional yet amicable tone to ensure Perry remained favorable towards him. In recalling the alleged incident in the trailer, Dixon stated that Perry would usually distance himself after such incidents by saying things like “We should just focus on business.
“And I would think, ‘Great. Yes.’ Every time I thought it would stop,” he said.

Lauren Pisciotta has initiated further legal proceedings against Ye, outlining instances where she claims he assaulted her, made a false 911 call, and bombarded her home with numerous service personnel.
In his lawsuit, Dixon asserts that Perry used his influence within the entertainment industry, particularly by aiding the production of the actor’s own TV series, to establish a manipulative and sexually exploitative environment. Moreover, the suit states that Dixon eventually came to understand in June 2024 that Perry had no genuine intention of assisting Dixon in his career advancement.
The performer disclosed the suspected mistreatment he endured to the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. Despite the lawsuit’s assertion that the report wasn’t probed, THR states the matter remains under review. He confided to the periodical that he chose to initiate legal action against Perry because “as an employee, he was my supervisor.
He commented: “I used to think it was just an industry norm, or that I needed to tolerate it to continue my work. However, I reached a point where I could no longer remain quiet.
After filing a lawsuit against Perry, Dixon shared with THR that he’s received both threats and support. People who claim they too have endured similar misconduct by Perry have supported him, while others have threatened him online. He chose to publicly accuse Perry because he believes that attempts to resolve issues privately fail to bring about the necessary change to safeguard victims.
Even though Dixon made his accusations against Perry public, he expressed concern that the producer might carry on unchecked, seemingly facing minimal repercussions.
