Meet the 6 Houseguests of Big Brother 27: Heroes and Zeroes Unveiled!

After a long wait, Season 27 of “Big Brother” is set to air in the 2025 TV lineup. The return of icon Rachel Reilly, along with the rest of the cast, has fans already speculating and choosing their favorites for the first elimination. Although I haven’t watched a single moment featuring these contestants through my Paramount+ subscription so far, I have formed some strong opinions about several participants, both positive and negative.

Before the game begins, interview videos for each contestant (except Rachel) have been released, giving us a sense of their strategies. However, past experiences have shown that once inside the Big Brother house, plans can change dramatically. Despite this, I’m optimistic about three players as we start this season, while I believe another three might face difficulties from the get-go. Let’s delve into each one!

Ashley Hollis – Good

I must admit, Ashley Hollis has left me extremely optimistic about her performance in the Big Brother House. As a young lawyer, she seems well-prepared with her strategic thoughts during her pregame interview, and she’s cleverly keeping her true profession a secret. Her experience in pageants will undoubtedly help her navigate diplomatically among other houseguests, and her pleasant demeanor makes her an appealing figure. It’s likely that many alliances will be eager to have her on their side once they start forming. In the premiere, I was pleased to see her offer to play for Head of Household alongside Jimmy Heagerty, and I sense a potential alliance brewing between them.

Another major plus for Ashley is that she is apparently a longtime friend of BB23 Houseguest Hannah Chaddha. Hannah noted on Instagram that they’ve been friends since preschool, so I’m sure she had some tips to pass along to her friend ahead of the game. While some readers may remember Hannah more for her hammock injury or the failed showmance with Derek Xiao, she had and still has a great mind for strategy. If she passed even some of that onto her friend, Ashley will be off to a strong start in the game.

Adrian Rocha – Bad

Adrian Rocha appears very self-assured in his preseason video, causing me to wonder if Season 27 of Big Brother might prove to be a challenging surprise for him once the competition starts. This young contestant, still in their twenties, seems convinced they understand the game inside and out and will excel when they enter the house. It’s as if I’ve encountered this kind of overconfidence before, hasn’t it?

In various seasons of Big Brother, there have been guests similar to Matt Hardeman from Season 26 who exude excessive self-assurance. To illustrate, Matt was so convinced he controlled the game that he overlooked the fact he wasn’t the Head of Household in Week 1, leading him to initiate a conflict with then-HOH Angela Murray which ultimately led to his early departure. In my opinion, Adrian shares the same overconfident demeanor as Season 10’s Jessie Godderz. Interestingly, he managed to come very close to winning not just one but two competitions during the debut episode. It’s safe to say that more than a few people noticed this trend. Regrettably, Adrian is starting off on the wrong foot in terms of establishing himself as a formidable competitor.

Clifton “Will” Williams – Good

Men over 50 on the reality show Big Brother can be unpredictable. They might find it challenging to bond with a house filled with people much younger, but for every contestant like Kenney Kelley and Steve Arienta who were eliminated early, there’s a Cliff Hogg or Jerry MacDonald who managed impressive runs, even if they weren’t strong contenders for the ultimate victory.

Clifton “Will” Williams appears charming, and his profession discussing women’s basketball makes for a popular conversation topic. I believe he will effortlessly establish connections with other Houseguests, despite being of similar age. However, it remains uncertain if his frequent mentions of his military background in the Diary Room might rub others the wrong way, leading them to perceive him as stiff. Yet, from what I’ve seen, he doesn’t seem like that kind of person; only time will tell!

Ava Pearl – Bad

As a movie enthusiast, I can confidently say that Ava Pearl is swiftly gaining traction among online viewers on platform X, with an avalanche of viral tweets expressing affection for her vivacious spirit. Admittedly, Ava appears to be the makings of compelling television, as she fearlessly vows to confront anyone who dares to stand in the way of the funds she urgently requires to sustain her life as an artist specializing in auras in the bustling city of New York.

The issue is, Ava seems to exude an unconventional vibe that might make it difficult for her to seamlessly join any alliance. She openly admitted her major flaw lies in controlling her temper, which I suspect may understate its potential impact. If she makes a significant disturbance early on, other Houseguests might unite to eliminate her instead of enduring a season filled with tumultuous conflicts. Despite managing her temper during the Big Brother Season 27 premiere, remember that it was only the first night.

Jimmy Heagerty – Good

Jimmy Heagerty’s pre-game interview shares some similarities with Adrian Rocha’s in certain aspects, but I find that he demonstrates more control over his confidence about winning the game. Unlike Adrian who might seem all-consumed by the game discussion, Jimmy appears to have a better grasp of maintaining a casual conversation about everyday life without being completely focused on the game from start to finish.

In the game of Big Brother, it’s challenging to keep quiet about strategies. However, Houseguests who focus solely on discussing strategy are often perceived as threats. As an AI consultant who has succeeded in life, I believe one should strike a balance between discussing strategy and being personable. For instance, his method of selecting players for the Head of Household role appeared calculated yet considerate. In my opinion, he’s already built trust with some players and started off strongly.

Rylie Jeffries – Bad

Among the Big Brother interviewees, one contestant stood out as clearly not fitting in, quite distinctly compared to the rest. Rylie Jeffries is the sole professional bull-rider in a house teeming with individuals who mostly work with computers. Given this, I suspect he might struggle initially to connect with others due to that disparity. He’s almost too conspicuous, so much so that if you were playing Guess Who? with this group, you could swiftly eliminate him by asking if the person wore a cowboy hat.

In my opinion, Rylie earns points for entering the game as his true self, but loses them due to his strategy relying heavily on being a follower. While there’s value in knowing when to stay back, following others is less effective in today’s version of Big Brother, where alliances don’t typically form early. I believe that this season’s Houseguests will need to demonstrate their worthiness of staying in an alliance, and I’m not certain if Rylie’s strategy of following and throwing will make him appealing.

The twenty-seventh season of “Big Brother” has already started! I’m eagerly waiting for a rollercoaster ride of unforeseen twists and turns, and let’s hope that some of these housemates astonish me beyond my wildest expectations. To be fair, I wasn’t great at predicting the winner last time around, so it might just be one of these contestants who turns out to be a secret ally, unmasked before any eliminations occur.
